Phaneropleuridae moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Phaneropleuridae, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:46, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've moved this back to drafts, because a single source isn't enough to verify the article contents, especially as it doesn't seem to support much of what is being said, raising the possibility of OR. Please provide additional sources that can be used to verify the contents. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:48, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Minnow, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 23:02, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copi (Asian carp) redirect

[edit]

Hi Jj1691, thank you for reviewing the Copi (Asian carp) draft submission. In regards to the redirect of the Copi (Asian carp) submission to the Asian carp#Copi renaming page: The are a couple of reasons why Copi should be its own entry. “Asian carp” is in fact only a slang name – it is not a formal name for the species. The name “Copi” has been adopted by ecologists and governmental agencies like the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), Fish and Wildlife Departments, the media (both in the U.S. and internationally), and the American restaurant and grocery store industry as the formal name of this species of carp. See the references and links in the draft entry. There are many examples on Wikipedia of similar food and fish renaming. For example, Orange Roughy, is its own unique entry because that is how the fish is now widely known, but before the name Orange Roughy it used to be called Slimehead. Other foods such as Avocado or Chilean Sea Bass, for instance, also have their own unique entry even though these names came to be only after being renamed (they used to go by other names). With that in mind, I wanted to see if you would reconsider Copi as its own entry, especially in consideration that in the coming years Copi will become a widely used and known term in the culture (on restaurant menus, in grocery stores, etc.), nationally and also in Canada and Europe and at some point someone will no doubt submit Copi again. Let me know, and thank you for your time and consideration! Leighcn (talk) 17:12, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

[edit]

Hello, Jj1691,

Please stop tagging pages for deletion until you understand deletion policy better. You are still a very new editor. Review WP:CSD criteria thoroughly so you understand when they apply, what namespaces they apply to and when it might be better to use WP:PROD or WP:AFD.

If you have questions about deletion policies on Wikipedia, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:37, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fish Taxonomy

[edit]

Please consider the policies of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Fishes before editing, such as your edit of Leuciscinae from an article to a redirect. In respect of taxa above the level of genus the project follows the 5th edition of Fishes of the World which was published in 2016 and treats Leuciscinae as a subfamily of the Cyprinidae. I believe this is followed, at least partly, because it keeps the taxonomy stable. By all means mention differing taxonomic views within the article but your change of Leuciscinae to a redirect was not in line with the agreed approach of WP:Fishes. If you want the project to use a different source for taxonomy then put your suggestion up for discussion on the project's talk page. Quetzal1964 (talk) 19:21, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bonito (disambiguation)

[edit]

Please note that disambiguation pages like Bonito (disambiguation) are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Also, end-of-line periods are not generally used on lists with sentence fragments. Leschnei (talk) 23:59, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OVERLINKING

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your work, but PLEASE don't link the names of well-known countries. And we don't link dates on WP unless there's a very good reason. You don't need to link "male"—readers know what that means. WP:MOSLINK Tony (talk) 00:54, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
