Northampton

Apologies for the delay. I think the best course of action is to have him send you all the website files and ask JB where he got his sources. The most important thing is that all facts be reliably sourced. If you can add the information and a source to verify it, great, but if you can't, then unfortunately it can't be here. If you really need, I suggest you make a user subpage and dump the information there, and perhaps we can start to sift through the information and format it properly. bibliomaniac15 02:10, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Whoa! Okay, I agree there are some sections and info on JB's Northampton website that may not be well-known and already documented somewhere, but I do have a problem with regard to most of the data/info provided on the website, as to attempting to 'verify' and source anything. And the problem is... that apparently, such info is already Public Knowledge, and well beyond any single 'source', as to 'verify' any single 'fact'. It is as though the statement is being put forth, "There is city known as Los Angeles." Yes, there are so many 'references', to 'City of Los Angeles' everywhere, but none that can considered a 'source', because they are all 'referential-to-public-knowledge'! So, how can such a fact be 'sourced'?

It is like Northampton itself, and the cities and towns of the Northampton area, were so important and critical to the very existence and Life of the United States itself (and much of the world!)... that it would be almost impossible to 'document' any single, or even all, of the Historical Contributions that Northampton has made to our world!

Perhaps, as a new user to Wikipedia, I am not seeing, either the forest or the trees (whichever), but just to attempt to 'flesh-out' a 'source' for each and every fact and item that JB has admirably included on his website... Whew! Even JB himself has not done so, but has, as I have noted, merely 'referred' to 'public knowledge', only documenting specific facts-as-to-their-creation-and-existence as apropos thereto, such as delineating the 'differences' between the many railroads serving the Northampton area. Perhaps I am overlooking JB's 'research' and possibly he has 'sourced' all of his info, but I don't remember seeing such.

I haven't gotten back to JB by email as he is almost too busy to respond to emails anymore. And as to asking him to 'transfer' all his website files and then to try to make them all Wikipedia-compliant... Far Too Much, for this guy!

Yes, I am 'attributing' much of JB's website to 'public knowledge', but Wikipedia does not seem to have all of these facts-and-info on the Wikipedia website because, as 'public knowledge', such info has just not been 'collected' anywhere in one encyclopedic 'source'. It would nice if all such facts and info, attributable to Northampton, could be 'collected' on Wikipedia... but this 'mere guy' cannot do it!

Therein lies a problem. Verifiability is one of our core policies, and it's what keeps us as reliable as we can make it. However, I do believe in taking things by a case-by-case basis, so if you post the information to a subpage, I'll be glad to take a look and see what we can do. bibliomaniac15 06:13, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding speedy deletion of Imagine the World as One article

Please explain the following comment: because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

When I posted the article, as far as I saw, it was in perfect English as well as formatted correctly in Wikipedia criteria. How is it seen as you say? I don't understand.

The text seems very confused and it's difficult to interpret what the article is actually about. It mentions a wikipedia category, a couple of unexplained names, and largely a commentary of wikipedia itself.
