Information icon Hello, I'm Bojo1498. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Al Roker, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! bojo1498 talk 23:29, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Your edits appear to be disruptive and your edit request has been rejected.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Please stop making malformed edit requests. You have made 11 such requests in the last few days on this article and on Talk:Olympic Games We're getting tired of telling you how to make a correct edit request. Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Olympic Games. - Mlpearc (open channel) 18:47, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit requests

[edit]

You have made multiple edit request at Talk:Olympic Games and most responders have asked you to provide further "needed" information, if you continue to make requests and then not provide any further you can be blocked for disruptive edits. You are wasting other editors time responding to your requests. - Mlpearc (open channel) 18:52, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Edit requests

[edit]

Hi 50.65.38.90. I handle many of Wikipedia's edit requests by anonymous editors and editors with a conflict-of-interest who are not permitted to make changes to Wikipedia articles directly. If you are confused about how to make an edit request, please feel free to ask me on my talk page.

Several editors have requested that you be more specific with your edit requests. In other words, when you make an edit request, there are three things you should provide: what is the exact wording of the sentence you want added or changed, where in the article should this change happen, and why should editors believe you? Here is an example of a good edit request. Suppose the second paragraph of an article stated:

"The region of the Solar System that extends beyond the orbit of Neptune is called the Kuiper Belt. Because the Kuiper Belt is so remote, no Kuiper Belt Object has been visited by a man-made spacecraft."

The last sentence is no longer correct. You could propose the following edit request.

"In the second paragraph of this article, after the sentence 'The region of the Solar System that extends beyond the orbit of Neptune is called the Kuiper Belt', please change the current sentence 'Because the Kuiper Belt is so remote, no Kuiper Belt Object has been visited by a man-made spacecraft' to 'New Horizons was the first artificial spacecraft to visit a Kuiper Belt Object when it flew by Pluto on July 14, 2015.[1]

This edit request tells us what should be changed, since it gives an exact sentence to replace another sentence. The edit request tells us where to make the change, since it states the location of the sentence to be changed. Finally, the edit request justifies why the edit request should be trusted, since it gives a reference to an article supporting your new sentence. Giving a reference is not always necessary if a change is plainly correct: for example, pointing out a grammatical mistake should be understood by any Wikipedia volunteer. I hope this helps you understand how to make an edit request that other reviewers can understand. Best, Altamel (talk) 20:30, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

National Christmas Tree (United States)

[edit]

There is a reason why your edits to the lead paragraphs keep getting rolled back. First, you edit about "light the tree" is duplicative. Second, the citation (Domke and Coe, p. 89) does not support the claim about lighting; if that claim were missing from the lead (it is not), you would need to add it as a separate fact with a separate citation. As it is, your edits seem to imply that Domke and Coe support your claim, when they do not. Third, there is nothing in the text to support your claim that the First Family lights the tree. Reading the text, sometimes the First Family is present, sometimes not. Sometimes only some of the First Family is present. It would be misleading to make a claim about the First Family, especially since there is no support for this in the text or (more importantly) by any citation. - Tim1965 (talk) 16:20, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Pmokeefe. An edit you recently made to United States presidential inauguration seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Chicago Blackhawks, without citing a reliable source using an inline citation that clearly supports the material. The burden is on the person wishing to keep in the material to meet these requirements, as a necessary (but not always sufficient) condition. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Echoedmyron (talk) 01:12, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Hayman30. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to It Takes Two (Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock song) seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hayman30 (talk) 14:28, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Your suggestions made to Talk:Toronto Blue Jays regarding the singing of O Canada constitute original research. Please be sure to find reliable sources for them. Hearsay and anecdotal evidence aren't enough and neither are social media posts (such as forum posts, tweets, Reddit comments, etc.), as they are generally unreliable. Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Ottawa Senators.
