nice pic
[edit]Hi, i noticed your addition of a nice pic. Thanks for contributing! doncram (talk) 00:13, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, actually, i see you contributed many pics. Hey, i am going to start the article for one of those, the Elias Woodward House, now. It will include your picture and a NRHP infobox. I'd be glad to help you with infoboxes for any other NRHP articles you might want to start up. Also, there are other editor resources for NRHP articles at wp:NRHPmos and wp:NRHP. doncram (talk) 16:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, now i see you've completed out pics for the National Register of Historic Places listings in Benton County, Oregon list, except for two historic districts (HDs): Avery-Helm Historic District and College Hill West Historic District. Great work! I've done the individual NRHP listings and skipped the HD ones, in some areas myself. In particular I didn't at first know how to satisfactorily cover an HD, and the short location description doesn't help very much. It helps, especially for HD ones, to get copies of the National Register application documents. You can request these for free by email request to nr_reference (at) nps.gov. The National Park Service may provide them in PDF files if they have been scanned already, or it may postal mail mail them to you, either way for free. Then you can know which buildings in the district are the most significant, and take pictures of some or all of them. With the NRHP document in hand, it is also more satisfying educationally, as you can learn a lot about the places. Hope this is helpful. Keep up the good work! :) doncram (talk) 15:43, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

corrections to NRHP information
[edit]Hi, i notice in a recent series of edits that you added more pics and also changed town info for some of the Benton County NRHP listings, and changed the street address for one, George Taylor House (Corvallis, Oregon). Adding pics is great. I assume also that you have good local knowledge and that your changes are in effect corrections to errors in the National Register database.
Although the National Register database, the National Register Information System (NRIS), is pretty darn good quality, various wikipedians have identified a good number of errors in it. A number of us have been trying to identify errors centrally, at wp:NRIS info issues. The idea is to report the errors we observe and to get them corrected in the National Register, in part so that future wikipedia editors don't change our "corrections" in wikipedia back to the National Register incorrect info.
By the way, the town location information is not necessarily exactly an error there, because the town field often reflects a village/town/city that is "near to" a given place. So, it is still an improvement for u to put in Philomath if that is the actual town for a place, but it may be that a different town/hamlet is "near", so the National Register is not actually completely wrong. But, wherever there is an actual error, it would be very helpful if you would consider noting it at wp:NRIS info issues.
Anyhow, I'll add an entry for the address info on the George Taylor House (Corvallis, Oregon), based on your change. If you have documentation of the correct info, it would be great if you could add that. Thanks! doncram (talk) 03:57, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. We went back and rechecked the address and it is at 504 NW 6th. We have corrected our revision to the address. Here is the link to the City of Covallis listing for the property. http://www.ci.corvallis.or.us/downloads/city/6th_nw_504.pdf . 46percent (talk) 20:16, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. Added the document to the article. So the correction to the National Register is that it is located on NW street, not SW street? That's what i wrote into an entry for this house at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/NRIS information issues#Oregon: address issues. If i don't have it correct, please correct it directly there. Thanks! doncram (talk) 22:51, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Just a heads up about COI
[edit]Hi, I see you mentioned the City of Corvallis. You've done nothing that I can see to run afoul of the conflict of interest guidelines so far, but I'm including the template below as reminder. I see you've also referred to yourself as "we". Unless you are royalty :), do know that we do not allow role accounts. Each contributor from the city should have a separate log-in. Sorry if I'm making the wrong assumptions, I'm not trying to discourage you from your marvelous work, but sometimes people run into trouble in this area, so I thought I'd let you know. It realize it might seem rather silly to have to adhere to this policy when you're trying to spread knowledge rather than necessarily "promote" something. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! Katr67 (talk) 22:23, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- The "we" refers to my children who reside with me and are enjoying our treasure hunt of finding history.46percent (talk) 04:44, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

DYK for David and Maggie Aegerter Barn
[edit]Wikiproject: Did you know? 03:42, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, 46percent, the DYK is right now on the front page of wikipedia. I created it without a lot of info, it's a bit thin, but large enough to meet the DYK eligibility criteria. There will be at least a few hundred views of the article today, i am sure, but there would be more if the pic was included in the DYK. Unfortuneately they didn't include it, tho it was in my nomination. Thanks for taking the nice pic for it. Interesting for me to learn a little about Oregon in the process. doncram (talk) 04:25, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

It Takes a Rim Village - Oregon COTW
[edit]Greetings WikiProject Oregon member, time for the next edition of the Collaboration of the Week. Thanks to those who assisted in improving a few articles over the last month. For May Day edition of the COTW (in Wikipedia time its May already), we have by request Rim Village Historic District and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (AKA OMSI). Rim Village just needs some refinement to get to GA, while OMSI needs a lot of work in general. As always, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Adios (on May 5th that is). Aboutmovies (talk) 04:54, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Portland Parks Photo Blitz!
[edit]<font=3> Want something to do this weekend? I propose a WikiProject Oregon weekend photo blitz! Let's try to fill up the List of parks in Portland, Oregon as much as possible by getting out and taking our own pictures or finding ones online that can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. The pictures uploaded will not only benefit the aforementioned list, but they will be used for future articles about specific parks and will fill up the Parks in Portland category over at Commons. Get your cameras ready! |

WPORE COTW 2.0 - the picture edition
[edit]Greetings one and all. For some of you, this will be your first time receiving one of these messages, as it has been a year since the WikiProject Oregon Collaboration of the Week (COTW) was a regular thing. My hope is it gets back to being a regular thing.
Usually I would go over the past COTW, but we are basically starting out anew. So, without further adieu, this edition is our semi-annual picture drive. We usually try to do it when there is decent weather in the state, and today seems to fit the bill. Now although you are encouraged to go out and take pictures, you can also just search the internet for images that have the proper licensing and upload those. Flickr is one site that has a fair amount of content with the proper licensing (most images on Flickr are not compatible). See WP:COPYRIGHT in general. For some “free” sources, check out the our dormant subproject that has some links to sources.
Lastly, if you need to know what images we need, here are the requests. Please remove the request from the talk page if you add an image.
Finally (this is not image related), as the years have passed, we have lost many good editors, and others, like myself, are no longer in school or are working full-time or both, and thus are less active in the project. The project lives on, but it has created a bit of a power vacuum without a de facto cabal still around all the time. With that in mind, I encourage newer project members to step-up and fill some leadership type roles. Granted, we have no formal ruling junta or anything and no real defined roles, but there are many maintenance type tasks that some of us just took on to keep the project going. For instance, I ran the COTW, was pretty much the only one doing assessments, updating the portal, and even handing out the awards. I am sure others in the project can name what things they have done. The point being, that while I enjoyed those and still do some of those, I simply no longer have the free time to do all of it at a level that the project deserves. That said, I hope to start a discussion at WT:ORE where we can see if some newer editors would like to step-up and take on some of these tasks, which will hopefully make for a more inclusive project, and maybe get us back to the heyday of say 2008 when things were really rocking for WikiProject Oregon.
As always, please click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Aboutmovies (talk) 22:20, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Monroe State Bank Building
[edit]Hey, i'm sorry to see your account has been inactive since 2014. I just figured out that a pic of yours is not in fact a pic of the historic building, which might have been torn down, who knows. Now the NRHP nomination document with photos is available online, and it's not the same building. I will make revisions at the Monroe State Bank Building article and at the commons page for the photograph. If/when you ever see this, it would be great if you would review and fix any possible problems with my changes. The best scenario would be for the building to exist still, and for you to get a new pic of it.... --doncram 19:43, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
