Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, 46.193.65.92. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Claire Ortiz Hill, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Spike 'em (talk) 21:50, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- I tried to correct inaccurate information about myself. For example, my mother was never a nurse. She was a social worker with a specialty in gerontology. She was a fiesta princess, but not fiesta queen. My father (1925-1977) was not an employment counselor after 1955. As I put, he became Regional Administrator for the California State Department of Rehabilitation. I don't understand the point of publishing false information or what is wrong with my providing accurate information. 46.193.65.92 (talk) 08:42, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- One of the pillars of Wikipedia is WP:VERIFIABILITY, and the text on your article is sourced to an story about your mother in the local press. Much of that seems to come from other relatives of yours. I personally think that the amount of information about your parents is excessive in a short biography of you, but what is there needs to be sourced to something other than personal recollections. - I think that you should consider whether the very ordinary, but accurate, information I put about myself could in any way involve a conflict of interest. Claire Ortiz Hill 46.193.65.92 (talk) 12:11, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
