Copying within Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi. With respect to your contribution at Cultural and historical Italian presence in Dalmatia, you need to provide attribution when you copy from any Wikipedia to another; see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. If you translate from Simple Wikipedia, you have to give credit in edit summary; in this case, the article was copied from simple:Italian cultural and historic presence in Dalmatia. (I'm not sure what you mean by "my translation from an Italian essay", since Simple Wikipedia is written in English; did you add additional content which you translated from an Italian essay? What essay?)

A larger problem, though, is that the Simple article was a copy from here: the article already exists at Italian cultural and historic presence in Dalmatia. It is currently a redirect to Dalmatian Italians. If the article is to be restored, it needs to be restored there, as this is a fork that unnecessarily divides attribution. I do not know why it was turned into a redirect, but if you disagree with that decision you might try opening a conversation at Talk:Italian cultural and historic presence in Dalmatia to see if there is disagreement to restoring and expanding the text. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:56, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
