Hi, just a quick note regarding this edit. I did not edit the other user's comment or the layout of the discussion, I only added a new section heading to clarify that it was not part of the previous section (the report directly above). Per your own link (WP:TALKOTHER), it states that sectioning is an appropriate edit, "Sectioning: If a thread has developed new subjects, it may be desirable to split it into separate discussions with their own headings or subheadings." As for the title of the new section, I believe that Hiobazard's comment was in fact a suggestion (motion) that the report be closed, "put to bed". I believe the subheading should remain, but feel free to call it something else if you don't like my title. - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:30, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

@Adolphus79: My read on that comment was "[...] ScottishFinnishRadish please resolve this, I'll just watch and see how this goes, but won't comment anymore", not "we should close this".

The part I was talking about, is the warning at the top (of that section of the guideline) Never edit or move someone's comment to change its meaning, even on your own talk page., it's all interpretation, but I do not believe that it was that person's intent to start any sort of vote on what to do, but instead they meant to let others handle it.

@Adolphus79: You are right, I shouldn't have removed it outright, it doesn't seem to fit that subsection, sorry... I guess it could be called arbitrary break (WP:Arbitrary break, *just learned this page exists, but I've seen that before), then again it's not really the same subsection topic anymore. I don't know, I don't have much experience with this.

That said, it really does not feel ideal for an IP to be doing this and I've already once back-and-forthed with you about another user's comment (and Dustfree didn't appreciate that) so I kind of don't want to do that again?
