Information icon Hello, I'm AntiDionysius. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ohio Valley–style pizza, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 14:15, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, was just in the process of doing that when you wrote. Please understand, this mistaken attribution of "sweet" comes from reporters from outside the region, who, if the sauce isn't overly acidic and laden with hot pepper and has certain vegetable flavors assimilated, denote such sauce "sweet". The term "sweet" when applied to pizza sauce in the US, connotes a significant addition of sugar, either to the sauce, or less often to the crust, or sometimes both. I've lived in the Ohio River Valley for a good part of my life, visited most of the pizza joints up and down the valley and haven't *once* tasted an Ohio Valley pizza that one would fairly judge as sweet. It is unfortunate that the word is even in the article. It needs removed. Ohio Valley pizza sauce is savory and the crust is without any detectable sweetness. 2601:547:CB00:3D40:94D7:AC61:9680:1CBA (talk) 14:30, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
