I think it was KnownAlias who said he hoped I learned something from this whole experience, and oh have I.
I’ve learned that it’s a lot easier to get a page fully protected for a year than I expected. I am by no means suggesting that this was my goal, but possibly in the future, I and others can use this same technique to accomplish such a thing. You all have made it quite easy.
I’ve also learned that wikipedia is in terrible hands. Any group of people, who would rather stop the swift contribution of information than have a small miscellaneous section remain on a page, obviously isn’t in the collaboration game.
There are people blanking entire sections, creating hate pages and plenty other things I’m sure you all don’t agree with, but you chose This as your “oh boy, so important!” article. That’s fine, Bob’s Burgers deserves that level of protection!
It’s amazing that one person with a dynamic IP address could make you all spend so much time and effort on a small harmless edit not to mention lock a page down for a year. It just seems far too interesting to me that one person, can ruin everyone’s experience without even trying. I do feel a slight remorse for this but that’s why we have the ”suggest an edit” discussion thing that ultimately makes more work for you all.
I’m sure you’re thinking this is reverse psychology to unlock the page, but this is hardly the case. Lock it for 2 years; you just give me a break. So, thank you all for the learning experience and fun times evading all of your “security” procedures. See you in a year and probably on April 21st! KnownAlias, we’ll keep in touch.
