forgotten password
[edit]Hello I'm Adensingh45 and I forgot the password to my account. I was previously unfairly indef blocked but was told to wait some 6 months or more if I wanted to honestly begin editing again. What course of action should I take? 199.101.61.254 (talk) 11:44, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Do you still have access to your older account User:Comet Egypt? I know you haven't used it in a long while, but if you do it would be better to start of with that account. Remember if you put an email you still have access to, you can reset the password. Alternative, I can't remember for sure, but I think you may have also used other accounts over the years? Or maybe it's just the rename from Nissae Isen's Man that is confusing me. Again starting off with an older account would probably be better.
If you no longer have any access to any accounts, you will need to make a new one.
Whatever account you use, once you have some account, you should immediately request an unblock and list all your previous accounts. If the account you're using is not currently blocked, probably start off with explaining that you've lost access to your blocked accounts. Since you also have a long history of getting blocked while editing using IPs, you should also mention this history when making your request.
Finally you also need to explain how you're going to be able to edit constructively in the future considering how you often go in trouble in the past. Then wait until someone deals with it. It could take weeks, but until it's dealt with and it's made clear to you that you can edit you should not edit from any account or IP anywhere other than your talk page to deal with the unblock.
Note that the more you edit from this IP for reasons unrelated to seeking help with an unblock, the lower your chances of being allowed to edit again. If you simply evade the block, while you may be able to edit for a while, don't be surprised if you're blocked and not allowed to edit. Likewise if you don't properly disclose your history, even if you convince an admin or the community to allow you back, you run the risk of getting in trouble once someone shows you have more history than you've let on.

- @Nil Einne: Thanks for your measured reply; FWIW I hadn't noticed this message before reinstating the block on this IP address. This thread did nothing to change my mind on the block, however. Graham87 15:14, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
