Hello! I've seen some of your edits, and I really appreciate the contributions you're making to Wikipedia. I'm glad you're helping the project! You may wish to consider creating an account. It's quick, free, and anonymous (you don't have to give away any real-world information about yourself).

When you're logged in, you can do many things that unregistered users cannot, such as creating new pages, uploading images, and keeping track of changes to articles you edit frequently. It helps the community, too — Wikipedians will be more likely to remember who you are when you have an account name! If you would like to check if a username is available, you can go here.

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

You may make formal edit requests that are completely uncontroversial(like fixing spelling), but anything requiring a consensus forming discussion is not permitted unless you have an account that is extended confirmed(30 days old with 500 edits, edits not made for the express purpose of obtaining access). 331dot (talk) 13:15, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll also note that you are hardly the first, and won't be the last, editor to make that suggestion. 331dot (talk) 13:17, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What's wrong with what I said? "armenian genocide", which took place 109 years ago according to armenians, mentioned in the lead in the article Turkey, while the Gaza genocide, which is currently ongoing and for which there is millions of reliable sources and evidence that this genocide took place, is not mentioned in the lead in the article Israel. It's hypocrisy and double standard. I am not a extended-confirmed user but that still does not change the fact that you Islamophobes and Turkophobes are doing double standards. But to no avail. Whole world will never forget Gaza genocide. Good luck while spreading pan-armenian and Zionist propaganda. 188.119.21.13 (talk) 17:44, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You don’t have an WP:Extended confirmed account so can’t edit in pages that are WP:contentious topics. Also you’ve made WP:Personal attacks at Talk:Turkey which can get you banned. WP:Nothere could be an issue. Kowal2701 (talk) 17:52, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jeet detected, opinion rejected lmao 188.119.21.13 (talk) 17:55, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Take your bigotry and incivility somewhere else. You are not welcome here. I don't forget Gaza, you don't forget the murder of civilians in Israel. 331dot (talk) 17:56, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I condemn Hamas' attack on Israeli civilians, but not mentioning Gaza genocide in the article about State of Israel and mentioning Armenian genocide in Turkey article is double standard and malicious intent, nothing else! 188.119.21.13 (talk) 18:05, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We will not solve the conflict here. In another forum I might be willing to debate it with you, this isn't the place. The fact remains you cannot participate on discussion in these topic areas; the 30/500 requirement is meant to make sure users understand relevant guidelines and can act in a civil manner. Personal attacks are not permitted either. 331dot (talk) 18:09, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
