A belated welcome!

Do you know about the advantages of getting a free account?
You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:
- Create new pages and rename pages
- Edit semi-protected pages
- Upload images
- Have your own watchlist, which shows when articles you are interested in have changed
Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a minimum number of days and made a minimum number of edits. If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (173.23.42.9) is used to identify you instead.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome! Cjse23 (talk) 14:28, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm GabberFlasted. I noticed that you recently removed content from LiAngelo Ball without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. [edit]I noticed you removed a few things from Irvington, New York and Yonkers, New York writing "commercial business promo name drops." It's not a commercial business name drop to describe a notable establishment in a city if it has references. There's no policy against a referenced description of a notable local business. Andre🚐 18:38, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks and you're right--the unusual Restaurant section in Irvington was well-sourced, which is very much highly unusual. The Yonkers restaurant name drop was also well-sourced, originally. Looks like updates may be needed, since it was recently temporarily closed due to the owner's $1.7+ million in unpaid taxes! 173.23.42.9 (talk) 23:07, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I believe it is open again. Let's just remember to WP:PRESERVE well-sourced material when updating. Andre🚐 23:35, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Victor Trevor. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Culture of Washington, D.C.—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Victor Trevor (talk) 17:06, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
- Please explain how removing a superfluous commercial business promotional name drop is unconstructive. I've seen articles where editors have removed summer art festivals and Memorial Day parades as "promotional". But a commercial business getting free advertising is deemed "unconstructive"? That doesn't make sense. Maybe a consensus from other editors on talk pages is in order. 173.23.42.9 (talk) 17:11, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks!

- Thanks for the acknowledgement. And the barnstar! Still more to go, but at least there's been so progress on long-term abuses. 173.23.42.9 (talk) 21:13, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for cleaning that up. Drmies (talk) 16:17, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Business mentions
[edit]Thanks for your work cleaning up place articles and removing the names of non-notable businesses. In general, I appreciate the work you've been doing.
However, in the Kips Bay, Manhattan article, you removed the mention of a movie theater. Most of these businesses aren't backed up by the New York Times source, so I have no problems with that. On the other hand, I'm not sure that mentioning the existence of a movie theater is necessarily a "business promo" (the source doesn't mention which chain operates it, but if it did, I don't think it would harm anyone to mention that the theater is operated by AMC/Loews, which is a notable chain). – Epicgenius (talk) 14:58, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

I see you diligently working to clean up local articles. Have you considered creating a username and getting some benefits? Funnyfarmofdoom (talk to me) 02:08, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the recognition. I've considered it, but my efforts on the "clean-up crew" is going to be tapering off soon. I hope many others will take it up so that this project can remain a valuable and much-needed neutral source. 173.23.42.9 (talk) 02:14, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
