The company uses a man-in-the-middle proxy for all internet traffic, including decrypting https traffic, so that it can be captured and analyzed. This is apparently one reason why we were previously told not to login at sites like Wikipedia (see User talk:208.81.184.4/Archive 1#User Name?). I don't feel comfortable using the same account at work that I'd use at home, as this login account information is captured, and potentially tracked and traced. However, because of wp:SOCK I can't use one account at work, and separate one at home, so I just edit from the IP.-- 155.95.80.242 (talk) 15:36, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to echo this suggestion: if you take a look at WP:SOCK#LEGIT you'll see that this is probably a case where you could quite legitimately have two accounts, one for home use and one for use during your free moments at work (and, gosh, you're lucky to have an employer who doesn't mind you editing Wikipedia from work!), so long as these accounts are clearly identified as being used by the same user. It wouldn't be difficult to confirm this with an administrator - I'm sure they'd all be sympathetic to your position. In fact, if you're going to be editing via four different IPs at work, it would probably make life easier for you and everyone else if you set up a single user name. You're an important contributor to Wikipedia's LDS articles, so it would make life easier for everyone if you could put all your talk and other correspondence in the same place.
