Welcome to the English Wikipedia!
Hello, I'm Sir MemeGod, and welcome to the English Wikipedia! First off, a few things to get you started:
- Create an account. This is completely optional, but is recommended! (You may have already, which is great!)
- Read the basic rules. Also optional, but I'd suggest at least skimming over it to just get a grasp of some of our policies. We don't give you a 20-question quiz about our rules, don't worry :)
- Edit!
- Here's a few things that you could do involving editing:
- Make an article! A vast majority of our 6 million (plus) articles are written by volunteers like you! I'd also suggest quickly reading What is an article and Your first article, as article-making can definitely feel a bit intimidating.
- Revert vandalism! While most people think that we just write articles, we do such more, like undoing edits made by vandals (people who add false or bad information to articles). While not seen by everybody, it is very helpful! Always make sure to use the edit summary feature to quickly explain your addition.
- Edit an existing article! What most people start out by doing is editing an already-existing page. Here, try it out! On the top right of the screen, there should be an "edit" button. Just click that, and you're all set!
- Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking or by typing four tildes "~~~~"; this will automatically produce your name and the date (pretty cool, I know)!
- Last but not least, have fun! While we do some pretty important stuff, make sure to always have fun while doing it. If you ever get bored doing one thing, just move onto something else!
- Oh, I forgot to add something. If you ever need help, just go to the Help desk or Teahouse, where all of your questions can be asked! Also feel free to ask me anything, I'm open to answering questions!
Thank you for contributing! Sir MemeGod :D (talk - contribs - created articles), 16 September 2024
