DYK for ComicBook.com

[edit]

On 26 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article ComicBook.com, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that ComicBook.com originally began as a website with sales links and press releases before becoming an entertainment news site? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/ComicBook.com. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, ComicBook.com), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

File mover granted

[edit]

Hello Trailblazer101. Your account has been granted the "filemover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Hey, I couldn't find anything on this, but I'd like to ask about something defining a franchise.

[edit]

Looking at the Matt Reeves Batman films and The Penguin, I was wondering how many (what kinds of them qualify, really) projects would need to be released in a franchise for it to warrant a series article on Wikipedia. Wondering if you could help? I know that three films make a film series, so then a film series qualifies for an article. But do two films and a TV series make a franchise, and therefore warrant an article? Just wondering, so it's clear to me at least by the time The Batman - Part II comes out.
Thank you, and take care, –BarntToust(Talk) 14:31, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This was actually discussed a year ago at the draft for this franchise, Draft talk:The Batman (franchise)#Publishing to main space. There needs to be at least three installments in a franchise to warrant an article, so it could be published after Part II's release, although I believe this ought to be discussed once that time comes to determine if the franchise itself has enough notability of its own. Cheers! Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:46, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good faith edits

[edit]

Hello, User:Trailblazer101. Please refrain from adding films released by DC Films under the DC Studios banner. This has been confirmed by the credits of each individual movie, the CEO of the company, and many credible news publications. Thank you. ScottSullivan01 (talk) 04:24, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are sources in the articles for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash, and the BOM and the Numbers source also support this for Blue Beetle and Shazam! 2. The film's credits don't actually mention any DC studio, so these web credits are the best we have to go off of. Also, you have not provided a single source that disputes what these sites I have cited state. You should leave this to the talk page discussion and you should not revert after your bold edit has been contested. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:52, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, you accused me of making false claims. Please check here for the quote from Gunn himself While I understand you are trying to make your case, please refrain from accusing me of making false claims when the evidence has been provided numerous times. In addition, this third-party article from Variety says DC Studios is "a newly created production entity". ScottSullivan01 (talk) 02:11, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have simply been asking you to provide sources when you make your claims. I do not really appreciate your passive aggressive tone in your comments towards me. You have already misused a move request in place of what should be a proposed split (which you originally posted it as, so I am unsure why you changed it). As I have explained, Gunn is referring in that comment to how DC Studios is separate from Warner Bros. Pictures. If we took what he said at face value, that would imply DC Studios is not in Warner Bros. at all, which is not true as it was restructured from DC Films being under WBP to being under DC Studios. DC Films had its own history under the Pictures unit before it was replaced, though they have a shared history. Trailblazer101 (talk) 02:15, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, that is actualy very true. It's what we've been trying to tell you. For the same reason Marvel Studios is not UNDER Disney. It's a seperate entity, and sometimes has Sony involvement. You have WARNER DISCOVERY. Under Warner Discovery, there's Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. DC Films used to be under Warner Bros. Pictures. ScottSullivan01 (talk) 02:19, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're missing the point. Gunn is saying DC Studios was separated from Warner Bros. Pictures (the film studio), where it was under when named DC Films. DC Studios is under Warner Bros. Entertainment (the parent of the film studio which also owns TV studios) since the 2022 rebranding and restructuring, though he only says in his comments "Warner Bros." We're not interpreting that DC Studios is not part of Warner Bros. at all, nor should we as that is false. DC Studios is now on the same level as Warner Bros. Pictures, rather than under it. Marvel Studios is also clearly owned by Disney, so I'm not sure what you are getting at in that regard. Trailblazer101 (talk) 02:22, 8 October 2024 (UTC )
He has explained this in a X post, but he regularly deletes his posts, so here's a screenshot. ScottSullivan01 (talk) 02:25, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Regarldess of the hierarchy, it's nonsensical to have one article represent both, for the same reason the DCU article was reverted back to the DCEU. Then, someone came along and created the DCU article. ScottSullivan01 (talk) 02:27, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article DC Universe (franchise) is completely separate from the DCEU as Gunn has made clear the DCU is a reboot of the DCEU., so I'm not sure why you are saying otherwise. If you have a problem with the DCU article, take it to that talk page, though I will caution that bridge has already been crossed before. And Gunn's comment is saying DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures are separate entities, not that DC Studios is separate from DC Films. Trailblazer101 (talk) 02:49, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
