Service Expansion and Prospective New Airlines/Routes

I think you should provide an additional section to this page, (Either with "Expansion of International Service" or after you list all the passenger airlines), that updates the readers on service expansion, and prospective airlines for Logan Airport. There is so much going on with this airport, as well as ambitious projects by Massport, that the airport is experiencing unprecedented growth, and in fact, I believe that by year end 2016, the traffic numbers will exceed aviation analyst's expectations of 36 million passengers, and actually be somewhere between 36-37 million.

Aer Lingus: Airline is looking into using Airbus A321LR aircraft and establish service between Boston and Cork, obviously to compete directly with NAI's flight. A321LRs will not be coming out until 2019, so it is expected service would't start until then. Air India: Boston, along with few other US cities, is currently being considered and studied by Air India. India is currently working to establish a US Customs pre-check facility at one of it's airports. Also, Air India's return to solvency and financial success within the last couple of years have made destinations such as Washington D.C., Houston and Boston more practical, using 787-8 aircraft. EVA Air: Boston is mentioned by EVA Air officials as being a North American city that the airline is considering in its future US expansion. Norwegian Air Shuttle: Ambitious route development and expansion out of Boston to Western Europe has been expressed by Norwegian Air Shuttle executives as key to the development of their transatlantic service. It has been suggested, by Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kjos, that Boston serves as a favorable US destination for flights to several points throughout Western Europe due to Boston being the most eastern major US city that is within enough distance using narrow body aircraft to cities throughout Ireland, the UK, Denmark, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc. Destinations on the map from Boston include: Birmingham, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Glasgow, Scotland; Milan, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; Dublin Ireland, Belfast, Ireland, Stockholm, Sweden; along with many others. Norwegian Air Shuttle: NAI, Norwegian's Irish subsidiary, is expected to announce the establishment of service from Boston to Shannon, Ireland if NAI's Foreign Air Carrier Permit receives final approval from the USDOT. It has been published that Shannon International Airport has finalized an agreement with Norwegian that NAI will begin direct flights to Boston, provided that NAI is granted final approval from USDOT. -Aside from the prospective airlines and routes detailed above, Massport has several airlines and destinations on their radar that they are trying to court for future service. International destinations and likely airlines to serve the routes consist of the following:

• The Spanish government has a bureaucratic law in place that does not permit Spanish national carriers to fly international destinations from Barcelona. (During my Spanish masters program, I learned this in a Spanish Politics class, taught by a professor from Barcelona, during my MA program.) This legislature is in place due to the competition between the governments in Madrid and Barcelona. While there is a fairly large amount of new destinations coming into Boston, I don't think a new section is necessary stating what new flights there are. That's what the destination tables are for. When a new flight is announced, it is placed on the table under its designated airline. You could include a couple sentences or an additional paragraph possibly in the "Expansion of International Service" section and state some examples, but an entire list in my opinion isn't necessary. Every airport is expanding in flights, some even greater than Boston. I just think this is well represented in the destination tables where anyone can see that the flights are growing. Discussion regarding images on PIT airport's page

@Stefan2: Stefan, all of these images were created by someone from Pittsburgh International Airport and is uploading them on their social media platforms. They are free to use everywhere. Anyone can copy and paste those images and use them for themselves (retweet for example). There are no copyright issues with SOCIAL MEDIA. I do not see your problem. Regarding the Thanksgiving Day image, I haven't used that since last November and was never planning to use it again, you can delete it if it still exists somewhere. Don't make problems out of nothing when its perfectly fine. If you don't think the images I uploaded are good for some reason, you try finding pictures of Pittsburgh International Airport that are. I bet you won't. I'm simply just improving the page by including images of airplanes taken by the airport itself that are meant for everyone to see how the progress is coming. *AirportUpdater* (talk) 04:17, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

There is no evidence that the images are 'free to use everywhere'. Pictures on social media platforms are normally unfree unless they were published more than 95 years ago or the photographer died more than 70 years ago, but that doesn't seem to be the case here as these are colour photos and unlikely to be a century old or so. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:16, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Stefan2 is correct. You cannot assume the images are freely licensed just because they are on social media. Your intentions to improve the articles with imagery is noted and appreciated, but you have to respect copyright as there are legal concerns. In a nutshell, you should assume the works are copyrighted unless explicitly noted otherwise. A simple Google image search filtering as "labeled for reuse" yields many photos [1], including media from our own Commons project. You should still double-check to ensure the media is under a compatible license. Another great place to look is on Flickr, where you can filter images by "commercial use allowed" [2]. This is impossible. There's no way I can get them to fill this out. Can't I just tweet them asking if I can use their tweeted photos on the Pittsburgh International Airport's Wikipedia page? If this author truly intends to release these to the public domain (meaning anyone can use the for any reason at all, including reselling them) they could include a public domain release statement where ever they are publishing them, something like "This picture was taken by <name/name of entity> and is released to the public domain". @Stefan2: I can't imagine this has to be unnecessarily difficult for the author - any reason we wouldn't accept something like that? — xaosflux ^Talk 22:15, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

A permission which restricts the use to Wikipedia's article titled Pittsburgh International Airport would be insufficient, see {{db-f3}}. Assuming that the copyright holder is the Facebook account holder and that this person wants the files to be freely licensed, then the Facebook user could include a statement about this on the Facebook pages. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:40, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

World map showing direct and future destinations

Hi AirportUpdater, I wanted to ask your thought on adding maps showing direct and future destination from a certain airport. You can see my example in Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica. I think is a good visual reference for users.

@Luiscotiquicia: Maps are a good feature to have on airport pages as they do show the destinations for a particular airport in a "world" view. However, the reason I think your map was deleted was because it was a bit too large and included some unnecessary info. I think if a smaller map showing the current destinations was created, that could work. It would have to be a thumbnail image. A good example of this type of map(s) is shown on Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport's airport page right next to the destinations chart.
