Israel Prize Recipients

[edit]

David - I note that on July 9 you amended the lists of categories of many of the recipients of the Israel Prize, by substituting the the category of "Israel Prize in [a particular field] recipients" for the simple "Israel Prize recipients". Whilst it is clear that, where applicable, the recipients should be allocated the more specific category indicating the field in which the prize was awarded, I believe that the general category should also remain to enable users to view a complete list of those recipients for whom there is an article.Davshul (talk)

I think you are right. I will remain the category:Israel Prize recipients in the articles and the category "in xxx" will be additional one. david1955 (talk) 05:46, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your quick response/ Davshul (talk) 06:14, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

David - On looking through the list of the various Israel Prize categories the Israel Prize Categories page, I note that architecture appears twice, once as "Category:Israel Prize in architecture recipients" and again as "Category:Israel Prize recipients in architecture". Are you aware of how to delete the second category? Davshul (talk) 07:23, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand the empty category:Israel Prize recipients in architecture will be deleted by administartors. david1955 (talk) 08:50, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you see the discussion on this topic on my talk page.Davshul (talk) 20:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Further to the above discussion, I have now completed details of all Israel Prize recipients in the List of Israel Prize recipients. Notwithstanding my previous comments (above), and noting that subcategories have been created for all fields in which the Prize was awarded, I now consider that there is no reason to depart from Wiki's general guidelines on the subject and that there is no benefit to listing recipients under the parent category. It is far more helpful for users to refer to the List rather than the Israel Prize recipients category, provide there is reference to the List (under "See also") in the articles of the individual recipients and there is reference to the subcategory in which the recipient received the Prize. I have been gradually adding additional information to the articles of recipients (including making reference to the List, adding Categories, inserting specific reference to the recipient's award as appearing on the Israel Prize official website, etc.) and I propose removing the parent category (Israel Prize recipients), as you had originally intended doing, but did not wish to do so until discussing this issue with you in light of our previous discussion. Davshul (talk) 12:27, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You made a great job on the "Israel Prize recipients". Now the double categorizing is obsolete. david1955 (talk) 19:27, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Burials category

[edit]

Category:Burials at cemeteries was deleted in this cfd in 2008. I think it is highly likely that it will again be deleted so don't waste time doing too much work on it. Occuli (talk) 13:35, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is fine if you want to build a Category:Radiation-related disorders of the skin; however, please do not remove skin conditions from the Category:Skin conditions resulting from physical factors in the process. Thanks. ---kilbad (talk) 20:45, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for more help creating missing topics in dermatology

[edit]

The dermatologic-related content on Wikipedia continues to improve; however, we still need help to complete the Bolognia Push 2009! This is an effort to make sure that every topic found within this unabridged dermatology text is also found on Wikipeda. Please see the above link for more information, and, if you are interested in helping, e-mail me for the login information.

There are still hundreds of disease stubs and redirects to be made. We need your help! ---kilbad (talk) 22:11, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Medical categories

[edit]

Hi דוד55. I noticed that you are creating new medical categories by ICD-10 code. I think this is a great idea. I just created a new category template, {{ICD category}}, to use instead of saying "This category contains x according to ICD-10." It's usage is {{ICD category|blocks|chapter}}, and you can see it in action at Category:Nervous system neoplasms. Also, when you are adding articles to these new categories, could you please remove them from the "-ology" categories? Thanks. --Scott Alter 02:24, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You also have to be much more selective. Vomiting is not intrinsically caused by pregnancy, while hyperemesis gravidarum is. Try to keep the selection of articles appropriate. JFW | T@lk 08:05, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indriidae category

[edit]

I appreciate your interest in helping to clean up the lemur articles, but your creation of Category:Indriidae and the moving of other categories and pages into it conflicts with an organization scheme that was designed and discussed at WikiProject Primates. I am reverting your edits. If you have questions or comments, please discuss this at WT:PRIMATE. – VisionHolder « talk » 18:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Mayors of Rehovot, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ok, you can either leave the deletion message there, and it will get deleted when an administrator looks at it, or you can replace it with {{db-author}} which tells the administrator that you are requesting it to be deleted.

Spelling of rabbis in Category titles

[edit]

Hi there דוד55: It is great to see all you contributions. Just for your information, I came across two of your categories, Category:Rishon LeZion (Rabbi) and Category:Edah HaChareidis Rabbis and I have nominated them at WP:CFDS (Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy) to correct the words "Rabbi" and "Rabbis" that need to be spelled in lower case as "rabbi" and "rabbis" when in the middle or the end of an article's or category's title. Please take note of this for the future. Feel free to contact me at any time. Thanks again for all your efforts, IZAK (talk) 09:52, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar correction in category

[edit]

Hi again: I have nominated Category:Aliyah in the ancient times to be corrected to Category:Aliyah in ancient times at WP:CFDS. Please be careful with spelling and grammar, especially when creating categories because they are much harder to change and mistakes can last for a long time. Hi. When you recently edited Timeline of medicine and medical technology, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Alfred Gilman and Bernard Brodie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
