John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough

[edit]

Hi

If you believe John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough graduated from Oxford University, it would be helpful if you could identify which John Churchill you had in mind (together with evidence) since quite a few John Churchills went to Oxford.

Thanks, Dormskirk (talk) 20:45, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My Lord,

I humbly pray You to excuse me for my edition; John Churchill had a polite and liberal education (not without studies in the university)

My humble regards,

I agree that the source you have cited (Bancks) says that he had a polite and liberal education but it does not say that he went to Oxford University. Indeed if he had gone to Oxford I feel sure that Bancks would have said so. As regards the other source (Foster) I have been unable to read the source on line so I cannot check it. In short I still need to be convinced that John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough went to Oxford University. Best wishes, Dormskirk (talk) 20:18, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
