User:lowercase sigmabot III has stopped working?
There hasn't been any archiving of Talk:Bandy since spring. Is the bot still functional? Snowsuit Wearer (talk|contribs) 21:03, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. →Σσς. (Sigma) 02:55, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
Aleigha Paige Dry
You had patrolled Aleigha Paige Dry and marked it for speedy deletion. The page has an empty deletion log because perhaps it might have been oversighted. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 04:15, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
Question about archiving & the target archive-pages
This probably sounds so simple to you and the various page-watchers but it came up recently in my editing so I would like to know... Do Lowercase sigmabot III and its various related archiving-bots create a target/archive page automatically as part of their processes, when they first start archiving? Do the bots themselves create the target page of "Talk: (article title)/Archive 1" or does the target page have to be created manually first? I have looked at the very many different "how to archive" pages here on Wikipedia and cannot find a clear answer. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 04:50, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
- Do the bots themselves create the target page of "Talk: (article title)/Archive 1" Yes.
- The bot will create whatever pages are needed to archive a talk page. →Σσς. (Sigma) 20:50, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thx for the reply, greatly appreciated. I was operating under outdated-instructions/my own faulty logic/Wikipedia Helps that an editor had to create at least the first target-page - some of the various helps-pages around Wikipedia-Land aren't very clear on the matter (they do say to place the talk archive template manually). When I recently created an empty page I was scolded for doing so. I figured you're one of the archiving/bot experts around here and you would know. Thanks - one less thing for me to do... I sent you an email about a possible security flaw in one of your bots. Please respond by email. jcgoble3 (talk) 08:51, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

erroneous tools.wmflabs.org data
I'd like to understand why wmflabs.org tools (like the Editor interaction utility) are giving the errors I noted-with warning boxes at User:Elvey/169.230.155.123. Can anyone confirm or understand (or investigate or fix the cause of) the erroneous tools.wmflabs.org data? --Elvey(t•c) 00:26, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
- The question of accessing IP users' data from the databases is a convoluted and confusing one. As far as I know there is no clean, robust solution to dealing with them. →Σσς. (Sigma) 04:02, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
Your display title
Hi Σ, what's the html format code for reflecting text (as seen on the page title of your user page?) The StormCatcher (talk) (contribs) 07:11, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "reflecting", sorry. →Σσς. (Sigma) 04:04, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
- I believe he means what makes the red Σ, and while most users have the transparent codes showing, your userpage has no codes and otherwise information what's making it red. I have seen this before and was always curious about it, and it's obviously caused by special script formatting (Example: Diannaa's is not obviously shown). Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 09:04, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
- It's {{DISPLAYTITLE:<small>User:</small><span style="font-family: Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, serif; color:#CC0000; text-shadow:gray 0.2em 0.2em 0.2em">Σ</span>}} →Σσς. (Sigma) 00:04, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...
Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.
After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.
We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.
The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
