Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mogwai71, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Blocked as a sockpuppet

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts as a sockpuppet of User:Mogwai71 per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mogwai71. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  GeneralNotability (talk) 14:27, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I understand that i have been blocked to having used 2 different accounts. One is mine, the other is not mine. From now on, I'll exclusively use my own account and contribute positively to wikipedia. Émile Chouinard (talk) 14:59, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Decline reason:

If the other account is not yours, why are you committing to exclusively use this account? That wouldn't be necessary if you've only used one account. 331dot (talk) 21:53, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Sorry I dont understand well your message, this is precisely necessary because I used 2 accounts. Could you go into more detail please?. Émile Chouinard (talk) 09:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:12, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that i have been blocked to having used 2 different accounts. One is mine, the other is not mine but I use both for no reasons and I didn't know it would be a problem. From now on, I'll exclusively use my own account and contribute positively to wikipedia Émile Chouinard (talk) 12:40, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If the other is not yours, whose is it and how are you using it? This doesn't make sense. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 15:17, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jpgordon. I Used the other account (of a friend) to create pages, as I could not do it with my own account because it was too recent. Émile Chouinard (talk) 22:07, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Logging out in order to bypass your block isn't going to get you unblocked. SQLQuery me! 16:49, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I won't review a second request, but what you seem to be saying is that when confronted with a technical limitation that exists for a reason, you decided to go around it instead. This does not inspire my confidence that you will abide by Wikipedia guidelines in the future. 331dot (talk) 10:10, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I used an other account in order to create pages, as I could not with my own account. I didn't notice it was forbidden and that's my misstake. From now, I'll only use my own account and I will not bypass issues. Émile Chouinard (talk) 09:35, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Per below. Since this is the fifth unproductive request I'm revoking your talk page access so we can get some real work done. — Daniel Case (talk) 07:24, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly am not sure that you understand the concern here. I caught you logging out to edit just 24 hours ago. SQLQuery me! 21:39, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should read the guide to appealing blocks, then contact administrators by submitting a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System. If the block is a CheckUser or Oversight block, was made by the Arbitration Committee or to enforce an arbitration decision (arbitration enforcement), or is unsuitable for public discussion, you should appeal to the Arbitration Committee.
Please note that there could be appeals to the unblock ticket request system that have been declined leading to the post of this notice.
