Meranie Pabular Gadiana Rahman (Born 27 April xxxx ) is a Filipina beauty queen, activist and philanthropist. She became the first Filipina to win the Mrs Universe title in 2023.
Early life and education
[edit]Meranie was born on 27 April xxxx to a farmers family in Misamis Oriental and later moved to Cagayan de Oro for studies. She holds a bachelor degree in Hotel Management and Tourism from Liceo de Cagayan University.
Personal life
[edit]Meranie lives in Hawaii with her husband Dr. Iman Rahman MD, a physician, motivational speaker and pageant coach, they have a son Jaleel Rahman.
Career
[edit]She started as a runway and print model and later joined pageants carrying her advocacies.
In 2019 she won Mrs Philippines World and Mrs Global International. She also participated in Mrs USA Universe, Mrs Guam World and Mrs World Pageant in the same year.
In 2021 she represented Philippines in the coronation night of Mrs World pageant held in Sri Lanka.
In 2022 she again participated in the Mrs World pageant held in Las Vegas.
In 2023 she won the title of Mrs Universe in Pasay, Philippines. She beat 90 candidates from around the world. The competition was held at Newport performing arts theatre in Pasay City.
Advocacy
[edit]Meranie has always carried her advocacy for postpartum depression awareness throughout her reign and participation in various competitions. She established her nonprofit organisation You Are Loved Foundation. The root behind her advocacy is connected to her own experience of the condition.
“Since I am a survivor of postpartum depression, I know how serious and lethal this kind of depression can be which has actually taken the lives of thousands and probably millions of women all over the world and lesser number of men as well,”
She started at an interview with ABS-CBN.
After winning the title of Miss Universe she added new advocacies under her reign: To raise awareness against domestic violence and school and internet bullying.
