ZappaOMatic (born July 13, 1999), also known as Zappa or Justin, is an American student, sportswriter, and Wikipedia editor. He currently edits Wikipedia or something like that.

Early life

[edit]

Zappa was born in 1999. Nothing much of value happened in the 12+ years since outside of going to school.

Editing career

[edit]

His early experience with Wikipedia began in the late 2000s when he was an IP vandal as a child, occasionally receiving blocks as penalty.

In 2008, he created an account with the username ZappaOMatic, which he commonly uses for online gaming. However, he never edited on the account as he was too young to understand how to edit properly. As he grew older, he began to constructively edit as an IP before deciding to get fully involved. In February 2012, forgetting the original account, he made a new one called ZappaOMati; the account's first edit took place on February 27, 2012 to 2006 Chicago Bears–Arizona Cardinals game.[1]

On January 31, 2019, Zappa formally lobbied a request to regain the "c" at the end of his username, which was ultimately approved.[2]

Editing style

[edit]

Zappa's edits are typically concentrated within sports, especially American football (particularly the National Football League) and auto racing (especially NASCAR), and anime. It is not uncommon for him to deviate from those topics and edit elsewhere, such as military history and video gaming. Other edits include minor edits such as replacing hyphens (-) between years with dashes (–) or fixing grammatical errors; his edit summaries for such changes simply consist of the word "Tweak".

As he is a Chicago Bears fan, he frequently edits the team's season articles to keep them updated with each game as the year progresses. This includes updating the transactions list and writing game summaries, the latter of which may take place as soon as hours after the game ended. Motorsports edits range from creating driver results tables or entirely new articles.

When in a public setting or on a mobile device, he edits on the alternate account ZappaOMatic (alt) (original, I know).

Personal life

[edit]

Zappa is a History major at San Jose State University. He is a writer for the British motorsports website The Checkered Flag, writing about NASCAR and the Stadium Super Trucks.[3] Previously, he wrote about both for Overtake Motorsport.[4]

I can't believe I got fired from the calendar factory. All I did was take a day off.
