The Manning Bowl is the name of three games between siblings Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. Peyton and Eli met with their teams being the Indianapolis Colts/Denver Broncos and New York Giants, respectively. Three matchups took place in 2006, 2010 and 2013, with Peyton winning all three.
In the season opener of 2006, as well as Sunday Night Football on NBC's inaugural broadcast, Indianapolis took on New York in the first ever brother-vs-brother game in National Football League history. On Indy's first drive, kicker Adam Vinatieri, in his first game as a Colt, kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Colts the lead 3-0. In the second quarter, Vinatieri scored a 32-yarder, before scoring the first touchdown of the game on a Peyton pass to tight end Dallas Clark on the 2-yard line. The Giants were finally able to score on an Eli pass to receiver Plaxico Buress, but the Colts managed to score again on a Vinatieri field goal at the end of the half. In the second half, Eli's Giants struck with a touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey. However, in the fourth quarter, Colts RB Dominic Rhodes scored on a 1-yard run. Brandon Jacobs of the Giants also scored on a run, coincidentally, also a 1-yard run. However, the Colts made another field goal, and the defense was able to hold on to give the Colts the win, and Peyton the 1-0 lead over Eli.[3][4][5][6]
The 2010 meeting was again between the Colts and Giants.[7][8][9][10][11][12] Colts running back Donald Brown kicked off the game with a running touchdown and two stops by the defense. In the second quarter, Peyton threw 2 passes to Dallas Clark and Austin Collie, repectively, with an Adam Vinatieri field goal in between the passes. For the first time in the Manning Bowl, a brother (Peyton) was beating the other at halftime while holding him to 0 points. The Giants finally managed to score on an Eli pass to Mario Manningham. With the score at 24-7, the Colts continued their domination of Eli's Giants with a touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne, while the Giants scored their final touchdown on a pass to Hakeem Nicks as time expired, giving Peyton another win.[13][14][15][16]
In the third edition, Peyton, with his Denver Broncos, completed 30 of 43 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns to Wes Welker and Julius Thomas with no interceptions. On the other hand, Eli completed 28 of 39 for 362 yards and was intercepted four times. In the end, the Broncos prevailed 41-23 as Peyton extended his Manning Bowl lead to 3-0.[17]
