The following is a List of Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes. Avatar: The Last Airbender currently airs on Nickelodeon. The series premired on February 21, 2005. It is currently in it's second season and expects a total of 60 episodes with more possible depending on how well the show performs. A third season is expected to be aired in 2007 with twenty more episodes.[1] Notable merchandise based on the series include five DVD sets of episodes, six-inch scale action figures, a video game, stuffed animals distrubited by Paramount Parks, and two Lego sets.[2]

As of December 1st, 2006 40 episodes have aired.

Book 1: Water, Volume 1, containing the first four episodes and the making-of special, was released on January 31st, 2006 by Paramount Home Entertainment. The remaining episodes were also put into their own separate DVDs and sold seperatly for a total of five DVDs. The Complete Book 1 Collection was released September 18, 2006 and contains all episodes of Book One: Water on a six disc set with all-new special features on the sixth disc.[3]

Book 2: Earth, Volume 1, containing the first four episodes of the second season, is to be released on January 23, 2007 by Paramount Home Entertainment. The remaining episodes are to be placed on DVDs in divisions of four and sold seperately for a total of five DVDs.

The series classifies each season as a "book" and each episode as a "chapter." The list is ordered by release date which also adheres to the show's continuality. For related media information, see Avatar: The Last Airbender media information.

Book One: Water

The first two chapters comprise the series premiere. The final two chapters comprise the season finale. The original pilot episode was never aired, but can be seen on the Complete Book 1 Collection's sixth disc.

Two teenage siblings (Sokka and Katara) living in the South Pole discover a very strange boy (Aang), along with his pet flying bison Appa, in an iceberg. But can they trust him when he accidentally draws the war to their village's doorstep?

Zuko, banished Prince of the Fire Nation, attacks the Southern Water Tribe seeking the Avatar, forcing Aang to reveal his true identity as the Avatar.

Aang, Sokka and Katara explore the Southern Air Temple, Aang's former home. Meanwhile, Zuko and his uncle, Iroh, have their ship repaired at a Fire Nation port commanded by one of Zuko's rivals, Commander Zhao.

As Aang and his friends begin crossing the expansive Earth Kingdom, they are captured by the warriors of Kyoshi Island. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko learns of their location and continues his pursuit.

Aang must hurry to complete tasks for Omashu's eccentric king if he's to save his friends.

Aang, Katara, and Sokka camp at a small Earth Kingdom town which they discover is controlled by the Fire Nation. But when Katara accidentally causes a young Earthbender to be captured by the Fire Nation, she plans a daring rescue operation.

Aang finds himself in the Spirit World, and learns Avatar Roku has a message for him. Meanwhile, the once great General Iroh gets captured by the Earth Kingdom, forcing Zuko to choose between finding the Avatar and rescuing his uncle.

In order to speak to Avatar Roku, Aang must first battle Prince Zuko and Commander Zhao on his way to a shrine to the Avatar- located within the Fire Nation.

Trouble finds Aang and his friends when Katara steals a Waterbending scroll from pirates. Meanwhile, Zuko believes that his uncle's trip to a market is a waste of time, but may find some new, powerful allies.

Sokka finds himself at odds with Jet, an Earth Kingdom freedom-fighter whom Aang has quickly befriended and Katara has developed a romantic interest in.

Two rival Earth Kingdom tribes must cross the same canyon at the same time -- and Aang, Katara, and Sokka get caught in the middle of their dispute.

A powerful, unexpected storm causes both Aang and Iroh to recall bad memories: Iroh explains to his crew about Zuko's banishment, while Aang tells Katara how he ended up in the iceberg in which he was trapped for 100 years.

Katara and Sokka become ill, but when Aang searches for medicine he is captured by the Fire Nation. While being held prisoner at a Fire Nation fortress by Zhao (now promoted to Admiral), Aang meets the mysterious Blue Spirit.

When Aang and his friends arrive at a village, they meet a fortune teller who foretells the futures of Aang, Sokka, Katara, and the village.

Katara and Sokka meet Bato, an old friend of their father's, while Zuko enlists the help of the bounty hunter June to find Aang.

After a mishap at a Fire Nation festival, Aang, Sokka and Katara meet two Fire Nation deserters, compelling Aang to learn Firebending. Meanwhile, Zhao learns that Aang is hiding with the Deserter, whom he has an unexpected relation to.

After hearing rumors of "air-walkers," Aang and his friends journey to the Northern Air Temple in hopes of finding surviving Air Nomads. What they find there instead is an Earth Kingdom tribe that has moved in and lives under the guidance of a wacky mechanist and his inventions -- but there is more to him than meets the eye.

After finally arriving at the North Pole, Aang and Katara seek out a Waterbending Master to teach them. Meanwhile, Sokka develops a romantic relationship with the Northern Water Tribe's princess, Yue. Also, Zuko discovers the true extent Zhao is willing to go to stop him from capturing the Avatar.
"The Siege of the North, Part I" December 2, 2005 19 19
A Fire Nation fleet commanded by Admiral Zhao and General Iroh attacks the Northern Water Tribe in hopes of destroying the Water Nation while at the same time capturing the Avatar; Prince Zuko alone sneaks onto the North Pole during the battle, seeking the Avatar for himself; Aang must seek the Ocean and Moon spirits for help.

Sokka, Katara and Yue must find Zuko and rescue Aang, who in turn must protect the mortal form of the Moon spirit from Zhao while the Northern Water Tribe desperately fights its hardest to drive the Fire Nation fleet out of the North Pole.

Book Two: Earth

On their way to Omashu, Aang, Katara and Sokka meet a group of nomads who show them a "shortcut" through the labyrinth known as the "Cave of Two Lovers" Meanwhile, Zuko is not at ease after receiving aid from Earth Kingdom citizens whose lives were hurt by the Fire Nation.

Aang, Katara and Sokka return to Omashu only to discover it under Fire Nation control. Determined to find King Bumi, the group enters the city. Meanwhile, in order to recruit an elite and powerful team of warriors, Azula also journeys into Omashu

When a tornado appears, Aang, Katara, Sokka, Momo, and Appa are separated after being blown into a mysterious swamp that seems to have a mind of its own. Meanwhile, Zuko's unhappiness with his current status as a refugee ingnites an old "spirit" within him.

Aang, Katara and Sokka arrive at the village of Chin, which celebrates a holiday called "Avatar Day," but they discover it's actually a ceremony of hatred toward the Avatar. Meanwhile, Iroh is becoming suspicious of Zuko, who- as his alter ego the "Blue Spirit"- is stealing money in order to make their travels easier.

In a search for an Earthbending master to teach Aang, the group attends an underground Earthbending tournament where they encounter Toph, a blind but powerful Earthbender.

Having separated from Iroh, Zuko finds himself in an Earth Kingdom village where he bonds with a local boy. During his stay, he reminisces about the days before the fire duel with his father that changed his life forever.

As Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph are pursued relentlessly by a mysterious machine, their exhaustion puts them at each other's throats.

When Aang struggles with a block while trying to learn Earthbending from Toph, he wonders if the problem is with him or his teacher. Meanwhile, Iroh attempts to teach Zuko an advanced Firebending technique- the ability to control lightning.

A professor leads the kids to a spirit library in the middle of the desert, where Sokka hopes to discover powerful secrets to use against the Fire Nation.

Aang searches for Appa, while Katara struggles to keep everyone together so they can survive in the vast desert. Also, Iroh and Zuko seek help from an ancient secret society while bounty hunters attempt to capture them.

Aang and his friends take the more difficult route to Ba Sing Se when they must escort a family of refugees through the deadly Serpent's Pass. Also, Jet asks Zuko for help in an attempt to aid refugees going into Ba Sing Se.

Aang discovers a secret Fire Nation super weapon heading straight for Ba Sing Se and must stop it before it destroys the great wall that protects the city from invasion. Meanwhile, Jet wishes to recruit Zuko for his Freedom Fighters, but learns a dangerous secret about him instead.

Aang and the kids finally arrive in Ba Sing Se to see the Earth King, only to find mysterious forces within the city conspiring to stop them. Meanwhile, Jet tries to find proof that Zuko and Iroh are of the Fire Nation.

A series of short stories, highlighting different characters and their individual adventures in the city. Tales of Katara and Toph, Iroh, Sokka, Aang, Zuko, and Momo.

While searching for Appa, the kids run into Jet, but are torn about whether to trust him or not. Meanwhile, Zuko also hunts for Appa.

The gang battles Long Feng and the Dai Li when they attempt to show the Earth King the vast conspiracy taking place in his city. Zuko becomes seriously ill and has feverish dreams as he faces a spiritual crisis and his future.
"The Guru" December 1, 2006 19 39
Aang starts to learn control of the Avatar State from Guru Pathik at the Eastern Air Temple. Sokka is reunited with his father. Toph learns "metalbending", while Xin Fu and Master Yu are transporting Toph back to her parents. Katara and the generals plan the invasion on the Fire Nation. Later, she sees Zuko and Iroh running their tea shop.
"The Crossroads of Destiny" December 1, 2006 20 40
When Aang has a vision that Katara is in danger, Aang, Sokka, and Toph all rush back to Ba Sing Se to save her. They meet up with Iroh, who asks their help in saving Zuko who had been captured as well. As Aang and Iroh journey to the prison where Zuko and Katara are held, Toph and Sokka go to save the Earth King, but are captured by Azula.

Book Three: Fire

It is known that Avatar: The Last Airbender will recieve another book or season in 2007, that contains 20 episodes.[1]

"The Legend So Far" served as a synopsis of the first book as well and ended with a preview of the Season Finale. It is narrated by Avatar Roku, voiced by James Garrett.

All episodes are also available through the iTunes music store, with new ones usually released one day after they premiere on Nickelodeon. Currently, iTunes sells each episode for $1.99 and an entire season or "book" for $29.99. It currently has The Serpent's Pass and The Drill combined into The Secret of the Fire Nation. The episodes The Guru and The Crossroads of Destiny are also combined. The price of the combined episodes is $3.99
