İbrahim Demirbağ (born 30 October 1998) is a Turkish former footballer who played as a midfielder.[1]

Club career

[edit]

Born in Istanbul, Demirbağ started his career with amateur sides Yedikule and Halic before joining İstanbul Başakşehir in 2010.[2] In 2013, having scored thirty-one goals for İstanbul Başakşehir in the under-15 league, he joined Galatasaray in a swap deal for Mehmet Batdal.[3] The move was somewhat controversial, as Demirbağ had written anti-Galatasaray tweets on his personal Twitter account shortly before the transfer.[4]

He progressed through the academy of Galatasaray, and in October 2015 was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of the best players born in 1998 worldwide.[5][6]

After five years with Galatasaray, he joined TFF Second League side Bandırmaspor in February 2018.[7] He was released by Bandırmaspor in July 2019, after failing to make an appearance for the club, and signed a contract with fellow TFF Second League side Ergene Velimeşe in January 2020.[5]

He was released by Ergene Velimeşe in September 2020, and dropped down to the TFF Third League to sign for Arnavutköy Belediyesi in October of the same year.[2]

Coaching career

[edit]

With his contract at Arnavutköy Belediyesi expiring in 2023, Demirbağ went into coaching, and took up a position as head coach of amateur side Florya As.[8]

International career

[edit]

Demirbağ represented Turkey from under-15 to under-18 level.[2]
