Wolf-Peter Miksch (born November 18, 1957 in Vienna) is an Austrian painter, computer artist, and object maker. Already in his childhood, Miksch began experimenting with objects and drawings following the early death of his mother in 1968. He studied architecture and painting/free graphics at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 1981, Miksch is participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Austria and abroad, including the 2nd Istanbul Biennial. His works have been presented in renowned galleries and museums worldwide. Miksch's art mainly encompasses abstract painting, digital artworks, and various objects up to large-scale sculptures. In recent years, he has increasingly turned to computer-generated art, particularly so-called E-Arts. These are based on the principle of his "cut-out pictures", which always consist of three layers: a first, usually square background layer and two equally valued, rectangular images that are intertwined to form a new square overall image. When creating these E-Arts, there are a hundred square "interstitial spaces" generated in a structure, for example, of 11x11 tiles, through which the first layer is made visible and integrated into the composition on an equal footing. This structure reflects not only a large round number but also symbolizes the nonchalance of this number, where historically, a hundred simply means a lot and not necessarily exactly one hundred. He lives and works in Vienna.
