From Wikipedia:New_pages_patrol
"Speedy deletion is a tool which can easily be overused".

It's too easy to tag for speedy delete when the article is fixable.

  • A7 often used, when the Notability tag would be more appropriate.
  • G12, when a simple request to rewrite would suffice

and many, many more cases.

Our role as Wikipedia editors should be to improve, and that includes encouraging other new editors. We discourage if we CSD tag when the article is basically fixable - I know it takes more time, but it's better for the encyclopedia in the long run.

"Since speedy deletion removes a page without discussion, an article should not be tagged for speedy delete if there is any plausible reason that the article should be kept. In particular, an article should not be tagged for speedy delete using A7 for not being notable (in your opinion): an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, it only has to pass the much lower test of asserting importance or significance (whether it actually is notable is a subject for an AfD discussion, not a speedy deletion). Consider using aNotability tag instead of a speedy delete tag."
