User:Yoshi24517/RfA poll
I'm thinking of running for RfA at some point in the future. However, I would always like to see my chances of passing at any point in time, to help prepare myself for it ahead of time, and to make sure that I do pass the first time. Please keep in mind that the nomination would probably not be for at least 1-2 years from the date of the creation of this poll (January 8, 2024), unless I see a number of high scores from fellow editors.
This is a poll I am conducting on myself, to see my current chances of passing an RfA from now until I run. Any experienced editor or admin is welcome to comment on this poll.
There are some rules:
- Please keep all comments civil, and constructive. Please do not attack me, or ridicule me, or troll. This is a serious poll, that is going to help me in the long run, to determine what I need to change between now and the nomination. Any editor is free to revert any vandalism on this page as they see fit. Please ping me if you leave feedback, as I am watching the page, but may not catch it, due to my very large watchlist.
- Please use the following format:
- A level 3 header (3 ='s) with your username, like "Feedback from [[User:Example]]". (This is to keep each editor separate.)
- Chance of passing at the current point in time (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being likely to pass right now):
- How long from now do you think I would pass? (Please provide a time frame that you think it would take for me to gain a likely 'support' vote from you.):
- Comments (Any comments you would like to add, followed by your signature. Please make constructive comments, about my strengths and weaknesses, what you like about my edits, etc.):
- You may also ask questions, that you can have me reply to. As such, you may ask them in your section. I will reply to them as soon as I can, though it may take some time to reply to them all. I will do my best to ping you when I respond to your question(s).
- If you need to amend your score at any point in time, please make a note, preferably in a "reply" format underneath your bullet point with your score, that explains your changes/reasoning, along with your signature so I know when it was updated.
To provide everyone leaving feedback with some more details about my editing, my answers to the basic 3 RfA questions are written below:
1. Why are you interested in becoming an administrator?
- A: I am mainly interested in becoming an administrator, because I would like to take the next step in anti-vandalism, which would be blocking users and protecting pages. I do not wish to participate in AfD, or any part of the XfD process.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I am very proud of my AV work. I have over 1,200 edits to AIV, and have reverted thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of instances of vandalism. I feel it is my best work, because it takes a lot to keep our articles in tip top shape. Vandalism in an article can ruin the article for other readers. Readers depend on us to keep articles factually correct and free from vandalism, to maintain a pleasant reading experience.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Unfortunately, dealing with AV results in a lot of conflicts. Most are resolved peacefully, but there are those couple instances where a user yells at you for reverting their vandalism. I have trained myself over the course of my AV work to just ignore those users, and not let them bother me. That being said, I cannot think of a single incident where any user has caused me stress, or any conflicts that have arisen.
I have never edited for pay, and regarding my alt accounts, I have my main alt, User:Yoshi24517 (mobile), plus a test account a long while ago that I used once to test a mirror site of Wikipedia, which will be disclosed to the Arbitration Committee when the time is right to run for my RfA.
- Chance of passing at the current point in time: 5/10
- Updated to 5 from 4. You've made some improvements! Keep it up! :) ~~~~
- How long from now do you think I would pass? 6 months
- Comments: High edit count, shows maturity, has a clue. I would like to see more AfD participation from you, and you seem to have trouble understanding certain policies, and have a tendency to be bite-y with new editors. You don't seem to have a lot of content creation, so I would like to see you work in that area more before trying to run. Once you address these issues, you will have a good chance at passing! :) ~~~~
Your input is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

[edit]- Chance of passing at the current point in time: 6.5/10 (I'm sorry...)
- How long from now I think you will pass: I honestly do not know, perhaps a few months to a year?
- Comments: Yoshi, You do a really great job finding and reverting vandalism. You have a lot of user rights that only trusted users can have (including many that I yet have) such as Rollback and AWB. You've been here on Wikipedia since December 2013--That's almost 11 years and you have 53,000 edits-- WOW. Perhaps I shouldn't be talking since I only have 5,000 and I've been here for just over a year... (LOL). Perhaps a bit more content creation could improve your chances of a successful RFA (I could improve on that too. I've created 0 original articles myself...) It would be great to see you blocking some vandals and protecting pages. Thanks for all your hard work! Myrealnamm (đŹpros ¡ đcons) 21:41, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- Myrealnamm FINALLY, a response! I've been waiting 10 months for a response. Yeah, I know my content creation is kind of crappy. I'm kind of out of ideas right now, and have been trying to get some ideas. I do know that I plan on tag teaming with another editor on trying to get a certain group of articles (don't quite remember what, it was either dates or numbers) to either GA or FA sometime next year, but I appreciate your feedback! You do not know how long I've been waiting for feedback. Thanks so much! :) Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 06:27, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh wow 10 months eh? That's quite a wait. -- Cosmic6811 đ (T ¡ C) 05:46, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
