Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao is a politician from Telangana state. He is currently representing the Korutla Legislative Assembly constituency as a Member of Parliament on behalf of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti Party.

Birth

Vidyasagar Rao was born on November 10, 1953 to Papa Rao and Satthamma in Raghavapet village, Mallapur mandal, Jagityala district.

Education

Primary education in native village, 10th standard in Jagitya, Intermediate in Nizamabad Government College, B.A in Vivekawardini College, Hyderabad. Completed.

Vidyasagar Rao was married to Sarojana. They have a son (Sanjay) and a daughter (Samata).

Political Life

Joined Telugu Desam Party in 1997. In 1998, he contested the by-elections for the Metpally Assembly seat on behalf of the TDP and lost by a narrow margin. In 2001, Ibrahimpatnam won on behalf of TDP as a member of ZPTC and was the leader of TDP faction in ZDP. Worked as zonal chairman of Karimnagar RTC for three years from 2002. In the 2004 general election, he contested the Metpally assembly seat as an independent candidate due to TDP-BJP alliance and lost by a narrow margin. In charge of TDP's Metpally constituency, he joined the TRS party in the presence of KCR in 2008 with the determination to participate in the Telangana movement. He contested on behalf of TRS in 2009 from Korutla, which was formed as a constituency as part of redistribution and won against the then Debt Minister Juvwadi Ratnakar Rao. In February 2010, he resigned from the post of MLA as part of the Telangana movement. In the June 2010 by-election, he won the second time with a huge majority against the Congress candidate Juvwadi Ratnakar Rao. He contested the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party ticket in the 2014 Telangana General Election and won with a majority of more than 20,000 votes against the then Congress Party candidate Juvwadi Narsinga Rao. In the 2018 Telangana by-elections, he contested on the ticket of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party and won the hat-trick MLA with a majority of over 31,000 votes against the nearest Indian National Congress Party candidate, Juvwadi Narsinga Rao. He was a member of the Public Undertakings Committee in the Legislative Assembly in 2018.

Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao was appointed as the President of TRS Party, Jagityala District on 26 January 2022.

Other Positions

Vidyasagar Rao was appointed as a member of the board of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust on 15 September 2021 and took oath on 27 September in the presence of the Garudalwar Sannidhi of Srivari Temple.
