[edit]Hemelrijk was born in the Netherlands in 1955[1] to Jaap M. Hemelrijk, who was an art historian and archeologist. After graduating from the University of Zurich in 2000 and from the University of Utrecht with a doctorate in biology[2], she ended up being a professor for the University of Groningen and retiring some time on or after 2021.[3][4]
Published works & articles
[edit]Hemelrijk has published over 130 articles[3], with most of them being about the behaviour between animals of different sexes and the "self-organization of animals' social systems"[4]. She also finished 2 projects at the time that she was at Groningen; both are research projects about the "collective escape" of flocks of birds which involve driving away birds using a RobotFalcon; and about the "dynamics of intersexual dominance" between animals.
