The Stingiest Man in Town is a 1956 musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' novella A Christmas Carol. The film is directed by Daniel Petrie and stars Basil Rathbone and Vic Damone as the old and young Ebenezer Scrooge respectively.
Production
[edit]The production was a live musical version of A Christmas Carol that was broadcast in 1956, the lyrics were written by Janice Torre and the music by Fred Spielman.
At over $1 million, the show's budget made it one of the most expensive television productions of it's era.
it was directed by Daniel Petrie.
Originally filmed in colour, only the black and white version remains, which was found in the house of an Alcoa executive.
