COMMENT: 290 p. full text exhibition catalog. I would also like to add to (all paintings and/or drawings/prints discussed in the catalog): Tenebrism (since he was such an influential Tenebrist); Caravaggisti (since he is a notable one of these as well); The Clubfoot (no. 60); THE ARTISTS ALSO DISCUSSED: Francesco Fracanzano; Luca Giordano; Salvator Rosa; Giovanni Do; Cesare Fracanzano; Aniello Falcone; Juan Martín Cabezalero; Alonzo Cano; Battistello Caracciolo; Annibale Carracci; Juan Carreño de Miranda; Bernardo de' Dominici; Cosimo Fanzago; Odoardo Fialetti; Paolo Domenico Finoglia; Guercino; Antonio de Pereda; Guido Reni; Francisco Ribalta; Carlo Saraceni; Massimo Stanzione; Luis Tristan; Francisco de Zurbarán; WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Ok - won't be many individual works I think. Spanish art too maybe? Johnbod (talk) 19:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Spanish art is a good suggestion, thank you. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 350+ p. full text exhibition catalog. I would also like to add to (all paintings and/or drawings/prints discussed in the catalog): Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painting; Netherlandish Proverbs; The Fight Between Carnival and Lent; Jan Brueghel the Elder (discussed at length); Pieter Coecke van Aelst (discussed at length); The Hunters in the Snow; The Peasant Wedding; The Tower of Babel (Bruegel); The Return of the Herd (briefly discussed, but there is very little on the Wiki page); The Wedding Dance; The Census at Bethlehem (briefly discussed, but there is very little on the Wiki page); The Land of Cockaigne (Bruegel); The Beggars (briefly discussed, but there is very little on the Wiki page); The Blind Leading the Blind; The Misanthrope (Bruegel) (briefly discussed, but there is very little on the Wiki page); The Harvesters (painting) (reproduced); The Magpie on the Gallows; ALL ARTISTS FROM HERE ARE DISCUSSED IN THE CATALOG AND HAVE WORK(S) OF THEIRS REPRODUCED: Cornelis Anthonisz.; Pieter Balten; Fra Bartolomeo; Hans Bol; Niccolo Boldrini; Pieter van der Borcht; Nicolaes de Bruyn; Domenico Campagnola; Gillis van Coninxloo; Cornelis Cort; Maarten van Heemskerck; Joris Hoefnagel; Lambert Lombard; Jacob Savery; Roelant Savery; David Vinckboons; Claes Jansz. Visscher; WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Ok. I'm thinking that where the link is added to articles on specific specific works, the page or catalogue number should be added, as looking through a big PDF catalogue for just one page or so can be a big hassle. That goes for the group of other artists (after 'Magpie) too. Does that sound ok? Johnbod (talk) 21:36, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
For the artists, I think adding "(see index)" to the end might be better because, generally speaking, they (and their work) appear a number of times throughout the catalog. I think that if there is a catalog number for the works they can be listed, and if not (if the work is simply talked about in a few places in the text) then perhaps a "(see index)" can be added as well. I think adding the extra information will be helpful to people, but appending every single page on which some of these things are mentioned might be overkill. Does this sound reasonable to you? And thanks, as always, for your feedback. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 300+ p. full text exhibition catalog. I would also like to add to: Basilica of St Denis; WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Yes probably just those. Johnbod (talk) 22:23, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: 75 p. full text catalog. I would also like to add to (all works discussed): Madonna and Child Enthroned with Saints (I added it to the reference already on the wiki page for this). I guess that's it unless there are other suggestion. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Yes, unless they had other works with articles, or discussed a lot. Johnbod (talk) 22:13, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: 600+ p. exhibition catalog - excellent resource. I would also like to add to (all paintings and painters below are discussed in the catalog): WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 180+ p. exhibition catalog - excellent resource. I would also like to add to (all works discussed in catalog): B. Gerald Cantor (whose collection it is, and whose Rodin collecting is mentioned in his wiki entry); The Thinker; Musée Rodin; The Walking Man; The Burghers of Calais; The Kiss (Rodin sculpture); Camille Claudel (discussed at some length]]; Saint John the Baptist (Rodin); The Gates of Hell; Monument to Balzac; List of Thinker sculptures; Crouching Woman. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 180+ p. exhibition catalog. I would also like to add to (all paintings are mentioned in catalog): Dedham Vale (the place and painting are discussed at length in the catalog - the wiki article mentions JC and it doesn't have a whole lot of info); Hay Wain; Willy Lott's Cottage; Charles Golding Constable (his son, discussed in catalog); Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows; Flatford Mill (Scene on a Navigable River); The Cornfield. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: Over forty publications and ephemera from the above listed places. Could this also be placed in Tiffany glass? Suggestions for other articles this material might be useful in would be much appreciated.

Thinking about this, & other opinions welcome. The material is a very mixed bunch. Johnbod (talk) 02:10, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok - one thing I should mention is that this Tiffany Collection is consistently getting larger - we are currently working on digitizing more and more material for it, so the current 40+ publications will just keep continuing to grow. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 300+ p. exhibition catalog. I would also like to add to (all paintings discussed in catalog): Lansdowne portrait; The Skater; Gilbert Stuart Birthplace. Any other suggestions would be welcome. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: A 350+ p. full text exhibition catalog. Great resource. I would also like to add to: Veduta (there is very little material available on this, and Canaletto is mentioned as a practitioner of the genre); Bernardo Bellotto (nephew of Canaletto, mentioned throughout); The Stonemason's Yard (discussed at length, reporduced); Luca Carlevarijs (Canaletto's mentor - mentioned in the catalog a few times); Old Walton Bridge (discussed at length, reproduced - a whole section of the Wiki article devoted to Canaletto's painting); Francesco Guardi (pupil of Canaletto, discussed at length); Michele Marieschi (pupil, discussed in catalog, not much else on his Wiki page). WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 200+ p. exhibition catalog on Delacroix - a great resource for general info on Delacroix, wonderful reproductions of his work, etc. I would also like to add to: Romanticism; Jean Louis Marie Eugène Durieu; Musée national Eugène Delacroix; Charles-François Delacroix; The Barque of Dante (this is reproduced and discussed in the book); Lee Johnson (art historian) (the author of this catalog - his work on Delacroix is mentioned in this Wiki page); Death of Sardanapalus (reproduced, discussed); Liberty Leading the People (reproduced, discussed); The Women of Algiers. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 400+ p. exhibition catalog. Essays, reproductions, etc. I would also like to add to: American Impressionism; Celia Thaxter (she appears throughout the catalog - I can add a note explaining this books inclusion); Old Lyme Congregational Church (Old Lyme mentioned frequently in the catalog); Ten American Painters. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: Nearly 400 p. exhibition catalog on Tiepolo. Great resource. I would also like to add to: Gregorio Lazzarini; Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo; Lorenzo Baldissera Tiepolo; Francesco Lorenzi; Gerolamo Mengozzi Colonna. Any further suggestions would be appreciated - I know there is quite a bit in here. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Those seem fine; was Scipio Africanus Freeing Massiva (painting) from Baltimore included? Johnbod (talk) 11:55, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
There are a few references to Scipio Africanus but the painting was not included. WilliamDigiCol (talk)16 November 2012

COMMENTS: 200+ p. exhibition catalog; essays and photographs and other things people will like. I would also like to add to: Interior design (she is known as the "mother" of it, after all). WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENTS: 450 p. exhibition catalog - tremendous resource. I would also like to add to: Post-Impressionism; Pointillism; Neo-impressionism; Société des Artistes Indépendants; Bathers at Asnières (discussed in depth); A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (discussed in depth); Divisionism; Les XX (under "secondary sources" -- there are several mentions of it in the catalog). WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 150+ p. exhibition catalog on art from the Maritime Southeast Asia region. I would also like to add to the following pages: Malay Archipelago; Nanyang (region); Austronesia; Southeast Asia; Culture of Brunei; Culture of East Timor; East Indies; Insulindia.WilliamDigiCol (talk)

    • Ok, but maybe a few too many - our definition of Oceania seems narrower, & I doubt Culture of Singapore has much relevance (I might be wrong). But there might be other more specific articles - batik say. Johnbod (talk) 20:49, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: 360+ page exhibition catalog on Burne-Jones. I have included a link in the Burne-Jones Wikipedia entry where a citation for this book already exists, and I would also like to add a link to the following pages: Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood; Morris & Co.; Stained glass; Aestheticism; Arts and Crafts movement. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

now added to new King Cophetua and the Beggar Maid (painting) Johnbod (talk) 04:36, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: A 300+ page exhibition catalog on the artist. I would also like to add to the following pages: School of Ferrara (painting); Alfonso I d'Este, Duke of Ferrara; Ercole II d'Este, Duke of Ferrara; Battista Dossi; Giovanni Francesco Surchi; Gabriele Capellini; Duchy of Ferrara (because this entry has so little in it); Italian Renaissance (this may be too broad). WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 140+ letters to and from the artist. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 70 exhibition catalogs from Kraushaar. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: 18 MMA exhibition catalogs of early industrial art exhibits. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: There are only 3 letters in our digital collection, but since there is so little material on Ward I thought it might be useful. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

  • Well, what the hell, why not! Johnbod (talk) 19:31, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: This is the finding aid for Steinway & Sons at the MMA. Could this also be used in Henry E. Steinway, Henry Z. Steinway, C.F. Theodore Steinway, and William Steinway ?WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Ok I think, but just for the firm article unless there are specific sections or ranges of items relating to the subjects of the bios. I see the link to the La Guardia and Wagner Archives collection at Henry Z returns a 404 error. Any way to sort that? They seem to have the main Steinway archive? Johnbod (talk) 22:35, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
I added the correct link to the La Guardia and Wagner Archives article. Also, in box 10 there are things related specifically to Henry Z and William, in box 11 there are some general accounts of the Steinways, and in box 14 there are letters from both Theodore and Henry Z. I don't know if that is enough to warrant adding links in William, Henry Z and Theodore's articles, but there is specific information about these individuals in this collection. Let me know what you think. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

ADDED TO: Steinway & Sons; William Steinway; Henry Z. Steinway

COMMENT: Over 70 items related to Roentgen, including letters, postcards, photographs, and other ephemera. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

COMMENT: This finding aid lists the contents and has an index for the collection of Westmacott's letters held at the MMA. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

  • Ok - mostly letters "to"; I'd give a brief summary. Johnbod (talk) 19:58, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Ok, Johnbod (talk) 02:44, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: There are 67 rare exhibition catalogs from Pictorialist photography exhibitions. I would also like to include this in Photo-Secession. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Yes to both (feel free to clarify MMA as the source of the other link at Photo-Secession. Johnbod (talk) 22:33, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: 29 illustrated exhibition catalogs from The Linked Ring society. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Certainly, Johnbod (talk) 22:31, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: This audio tour features 89 selections made by de Montebello of individual works of art at the MMA, as well as overviews of various departments in the MMA. It offers a broad glimpse into the director's tastes. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

Yes, fine Johnbod (talk) 22:29, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: The full-text of this important exhibition catalog is provided here, and it's coverage overlaps well with the time-span covered in this entry.

Fine, and for the previous one in the series too. I expect Empire line, Muscadin, & Incroyables and Merveilleuses are covered too, & would benefit. Very possibly others. Johnbod (talk) 01:37, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
ALSO ADDED to "FURTHER READING" in Empire line, Muscadin, & Incroyables and Merveilleuses
I added a note with a link to this article in on the Talk page of the short biography of Rose Bertin. Perhaps someone will update the article before I can get to it... - PKM (talk) 01:53, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: The full-text of this important exhibition catalog is provided here, and it includes a number of images, essays and bibliographic references relevant to the history of French fashion.

Yes, as above. Johnbod (talk) 01:37, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

COMMENT: This provides good general background on both Baltimore album quilts, Baltimore city, and the important people involved in the making of these quilts.

Sounds good. Johnbod (talk) 01:37, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
[edit]

COMMENT: Over 20 early illustrated exhibition catalogs from the RPS. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

I would have said yes in other circumstances, but you are competing head-on with this link which is already there, & I think they win (just looking at the first pages). Johnbod (talk) 22:50, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Any suggestions on how to improve this page would be greatly appreciated. Also, the material for this article was taken directly from the library's "about" page. I would like to know what needs to be done in order to make it clear that this is OK with the library. Are there releases I need to get in order for this to be acceptable to Wikipedia? Thanks. WilliamDigiCol (talk)

  • Hmm. Too directly - see WP:COPYVIO. You would need to get a release to use the exact MMA text, which I expect would involve consulting the in-house lawyers. Also we discourage GLAM people editing the articles on their own institution, though if the house text is released that might not be an issue. I'd suggest trying to get a new York Wikipedian to work on the text to make it an acceptable paraphrase produced by someone with no COI. Ask Smallbones etc. Johnbod (talk) 21:48, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
