Fall from Heaven is a dark fantasy mod for the 2007 computer game Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword. It is based on the fictional world of Erebus, where small tribes of a variety of races (including humans, dwarves and elves) are beginning to rebuild their empires, which were lost during the catastrophic Age of Ice. Fall from Heaven 2, an updated version of the original mod, is the most popular mod for Civilization IV yet created, according to current download figures from the Civilization Fanatics Center.[1] A prequel to the mod, titled "Age of Ice" was released with the Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword. Currently, no plans have been expressed to update the mod for Civilization V.
Gameplay
[edit]Gameplay in Fall from Heaven is different in many ways to that of Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, but the fundamentals remain basically the same. Some areas of difference in Fall from Heaven include the addition of a magic system, a greater focus on more experienced units, and the player's choice of religion having a greater effect. Also, each civilization is usually geared towards a specific style of play. For example, the Lanun are focussed towards naval prowess before military might, and the success of the Khazad empire is directly tied to the amount of gold in the player's treasury.
Civilizations
[edit]- Khazad- An avaricious tribe of dwarves with little regard for magic.
- Clan of Embers- A race of orcs and goblins who are only a little more civilized than the barbarians of the world.
- Lanun- A race of seafaring humans with a lust for treasure.
- Sheaim- Humans who summon demons to fight for them.
