An equation I came up with for dividing by 9:

d = all digits of x except for the last digit	f = first digit	s = second digit	t = third digit

Rule	Equation	Example
If x is less than 100:	$D+(1/9)(d+s)$	x=54 [ $5+(1/9)(5+4)$ ] = 6
If x is greater than 100 but less than 1000	$D+(1/9)(f+s+t)+f$	x=748 [ $74+(1/9)(7+4+8)+7$ ] = 83.1...
