Hi there, folks.

This page is unlikely to see much traffic, but I thought that I ought to put up something about myself in case anyone wonders about my capacity to justify any edits or comments I make.

My first degree was in history, gained from the then-top department in the UK. I followed that up a while later with post-graduate work in the analysis of international conflict, with a particular interest in the formation and promotion of communal identities.

I live in Scotland, not far from where I grew up; took both my degrees in England; and have family ties to Ireland from Belfast to Galway - though the great majority of my time there has been spent in the North.

I'm now a chronic invalid, and periodically find myself trawling through Wikipedia being alternately fascinated and infuriatated by the articles. I've finally got around to making a login so that I no longer have an excuse not to get involved in the more interesting debates.
