Smarter Wikipedia is a free, open source Firefox extension which aims to make Wikipedia more useful. It adds a "related articles" box to the left side of Wikipedia and integrates Wikipedia's search features into Firefox. It is aimed at Wikipedia power users[1]. As of February 27, 2009 Smarter Wikipedia has been downloaded over 55,000 times.

Technical details
[edit]The extension implements the addition to the context menu using an XUL overlay to the Firefox chrome. The "related articles" feature is implemented using an AJAX request to an web API.
