Bio
[edit]About me
[edit]I am a high school and college student in the Northwest. My days mainly include Baseball, music, God, friends and family time. I have been playing baseball on a competitive level for 9 years through select and school baseball. Music as been a main part of my life as well. Not only playing and creating music but, constantly listening to music everyday. Over 262 million daily listeners on Spotify, including me[1]. The most important part of my life is God and family because I believe they'll always be there for me and show me love, so I have to do the same for them.
Wikipedia interests
[edit]For me being a curious person, I like to learn and know random things. Wikipedia would be a great source to add and learn information about topics I am interested in like- Health and sports. For some of those topics I can add important information and fill in the gaps with my personal experiences. My main goal for this tool is to learn and expand my knowledge on topics I am interested in.
Article evaluation
[edit]As my college career just starting, I thought it was fitting to search and find a college that I am interested in. I found the University of San Francisco to be one of my top interests for both my athletic and academic needs. I found that Wikipedia's page on the university needs some revisions to reach its full potential. I visited the University of San Francisco article on Wikipedia, and found three aspect of it worth commenting on: Missing valuable information, lack of citations, and the citations not being valid or verified.
Missing valuable Information
[edit]Throughout the article it skims over key details and topics. These topics include the religious background of the school. Wikipedia fails to explain the backstory of the Catholic background of the University. To add on, this article lacks in explaining the different majors, the different fraternities and sororities, and Missing all of the sports they include. Overall this article misses the point to be informative on some topics and instead becomes more of an advertisement. Especially the section about media and athletics.
Lack of citations
[edit]Some of the sections in this article are well developed and full of citations but, the more you read the citations get scarce. Sections like Basketball and soccer only having one citation for the whole section. on top of that both of these sections have the same source cited. Another section is the student body as Wikipedia editors themselves say it's missing valued citations and sources. To fix this I would add more sources to the bottom half of the article.
non-verified Citations
[edit]The whole article has many sources that either don't work or not updated. especially in the Athletic sections of the article, the Citations lead to non-usable sources. Almost over 15 of the sources do not load or cannot be found anymore. Then, the sources that can be used do not seem reliable, with having advertisements or not a lot of hard facts in the sources. These sources are found through the student body, performing arts, and student produce media sections.
conclusion
[edit]All together, this page is a valuable source for a quick summary of the university. The issues with it is not giving depth in the quick overview over important topics about the school and, using citations less throughout the article. Also, many of the citations lacking trust. Improving these small issues will give a greater overview for people interested in this college.
