This table is intended to explore what might contribute to editor retention in Wikimedia. It does so by collecting datapoints relating to editor retention.

Anyone is welcome to join in this exercise. Just identify and count a group of definable active editors in a month in late 2012, see how many of them also edited in the same month in 2016, Then add a row to the table putting them in the appropriate sequence.

Groups it would be good to measure and add here include:

  • Editors who had FAs promoted in 2012
  • Editors who were deletion tagging in 2012
  • Editors who were active in particular projects in 2012
  • Editors who reviewed GAs in 2012

Ideally comparing Dec 2012 activity to Dec 2016

There is another version of this at User:WereSpielChequers/2010-2014 Editor retention test, both are still live, but they measure two different four year time periods. You are welcome to add to either, but running the same test on two different time periods is useful as a reality check to see if a similar percentage emerges.
