My name is Stephen S. and I'm a history, politics, and ethnolinguistics junkie starting out on my Wikipedia journey.

I follow current events across a number of media outlets, and am always appreciative of a solid historical documentary, but my overall passion is the 1800s. Whether we're talking wars for independence, civil wars, the industrial revolution, or the Victorian obsession with the occult, I'm into it.

Although to us the people of the 19th century might seem outdated or primitive, I truly think their art and lives have so much wisdom for us as we deal with our increasingly robotic and technological world.

I've always been fascinated by magnates and captains of industry, and I can't help but feel that so many Gilded Age figures remind me many of the tech barons and wunderkinds of today.

When I'm not working on here, you can find me at the local library, at the movie theater, or metal detecting (legally) at old battlefields around the world.

Simpler times could definitely make a comeback, and for the better!
