From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WagTools is an add-on for Firefox that is currently being developed by User:Waggers. The intention is to build in similar functionality to tools like Huggle and AWB. There are several key advantages to building a tool as a Firefox add-on:

  • Compatibility across all operating systems (Huggle and AWB only work on MS Windows)
  • It's easy to download and install updates - you don't have to start the tool or visit a Wikipedia page to check you have the latest version
  • It's integrated into the browser - no need to manage separate files, shortcuts, etc.

Download

[edit]

You can download WagTools from this page on the Mozilla website. Note that the extension hasn't been fully released to the public yet, so unfortunately you'll need a user account for the Firefox Add-ons site in order to download it. (Registration is free and easy!) Note: This add on appears disabled by the Administrator on the Firefox Add-on website.

Version History

[edit]

  • New WagTool: Typo fixing

Version 1.05 (next release)

[edit]
  • Minor amendment to typo-fixer to weed out some annoying false positives such as template names and URLs

Future developments

[edit]

Please list any bugs or development requests on the talk page. Here's some of what I'm planning as far as the development of WagTools is concerned, but please be aware that none of these are guaranteed deliverables and there are certainly no timescales attached...

  • Ability to log on via secure server
  • Internationalisation
  • Typo fixing module
  • RCP module
  • AIV tool for admins

User guide

[edit]

It's not much, but this is a wiki after all so feel free to improve it! The guide is available here.

How you can help

[edit]

For WagTools to become a fully public Firefox extension on the Mozilla site, we need your feedback. So once you've downloaded and used WagTools a bit, please return to the Mozilla WagTools page and leave a comment. Preferably something nice, but be honest!
