Bio
[edit]About Me
[edit]I am a college student who enjoys spending my free time playing video games. Some of the genres of games I enjoy playing are MMORPGs, horror, and real-time strategy. In addition to gaming, I also devote some of my free time to creating fanart illustrations of characters from media such as Warframe or Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I discover new games through YouTube creators like Wanderbots. Currently, I am studying to become a certified medical biller and coder, but my ultimate goal is to pursue a career as a certified tumor registrar. A cancer registry is like a database that keeps track of people who have been diagnosed with cancer. It helps gather, organize, and study information about those individuals with malignant or neoplastic diseases.[1]
Wikipedia Interests
[edit]When it comes to my interests on Wikipedia, I generally enjoy learning about oddities and topics that have limited available information. I hope to contribute by occasionally editing pages on obscure subjects, such as documenting unusual bugs in video games that may serve as easter eggs for players like myself.
Article Review (League of Legends)
[edit]I used to play League of Legends frequently and I thoroughly loved the game, even though I no longer play it. I still pay attention to any announcements related to League of Legends from its developers at Riot Games. I believe that this gives me enough context and prior knowledge to properly evaluate this article. My intention with this paper is to improve Wikipedia's coverage on League of Legends.I visited the League of Legends article on Wikipedia and identified three aspects that are worth addressing: irrelevant sections or information, missing important information, and dead links.
I believe that there is minimal irrelevant information or sentences in this text. However, I do think that some information is in the incorrect sections and should be moved to the appropriate subsection. One example is the mention of being "one of the greatest games ever made," which many reviews have stated. This comment is appropriately sourced by linking to another Wikipedia article that lists all games praised similarly. I feel that this information should be relocated from the overview of the article to the reception section. Although the main article briefly discusses reception, I believe that this statement does not belong in the primary section. Furthermore, I feel that relevant information that provides an overview of the topic is also missing.
While reading the article, I noticed that the most recently announced game mode, named "Swarm," lacks detailed information. The character roster only mentions the number of characters, and details about the team structure are located at the end of the main gameplay section. The article also fails to mention the classes of the characters or where they are generally played. This information, despite being available and possibly sourced from the League of Legends website, has not been included in the article. I am aware that this information is available on an alternative to Wikipedia called Fandom, which is regularly updated and maintained. I wonder if any of the links in the article are broken or dead.
When it comes to whether there are any broken or dead links in the article, I did not find any. However, I did find that there were missing links, including one to a review, and several that should be present for information that is either not properly covered or missing altogether. While I understand that this section is focused on broken or dead links, I do believe that this article contains sufficient active links that redirect to information, including other Wikipedia articles. While I did not come across any broken or dead links, it is important to mention that the links that are used in this article are properly maintained.
Overall, I would rate this article as "great." I feel that the minor misplaced information is more of a personal organization preference on my end. The information that is missing is as recent as July 17th, 2024, so I won’t fault the editors for not being on top of every possible update released by Riot. As for dead links, this article is incredibly well-maintained in that regard. It serves as a great overview of League of Legends and provides enough information to spark someone's interest in the game.
