The Matsu Biennial (Chinese: 馬祖國際藝術島) is a biennial art exhibition in Taiwan, held in Lienchiang County.

2022

[edit]

The first Matsu Biennial was scheduled for 2021, and postponed to 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] The inaugural biennial ran from 12 February to 10 April with the theme "Island Brew" and featured eight projects and 39 artworks.[2] Exhibitions were displayed in former military brothels and underground bunkers in Matsu.[3] In March, eleven diplomatic representatives to Taiwan attended the 2022 biennial.[4] A number of exhibited works were kept as permanent installations or otherwise preserved.[5]
