User:Voice of the Valley/The Blue Ridge Leader & Loudoun Today

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Blue Ridge Leader & Loudoun Today is a monthly print newspaper based in Loudoun County, Virginia, in the town of Purcellville. The newspaper is commonly known as "The Voice of the Valley" and has represented western Loudoun since 1984. Started by five local businessmen, and based out of an old firehouse on 20th street, the free paper started as a weekly publication. Four years later, difficult economic times created financial hardships. In 1988, in order to stay in business, publisher and editor, Phillip Hahn, moved the operations to his home on Main Street where it flourished for years. In 2008, after 24 years at the helm, Phil Hahn died and the newspaper struggled to find its footing, briefly ceasing print publication. One year later, the Blue Ridge Leader returned to the basement of the firehouse where it all began, and in April, 2009, the newspaper returned with a dynamic daily news website (www.brleader.com), and in 2010, the print edition resumed in their current monthly format.
