Osteotoxicity
Damage to the bone (osteo-) by drugs, chemicals or any other compounds resulting in impaired bone formation, mineralization and remodeling.
In vitro cell systems such as osteosarcoma cell lines (HOS TE 85 and ROS 17.28) were used to evidence the osteotoxicity of cadmium and lead.[1] Fish, in particular zebrafish, have been used as in vivo systems to assess osteotoxicity and study underlying mechanisms.[2]
