LifeNets, founded in the United States in 1999, is "a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that develops programs offering practical assistance that promote the well being and self sufficiency of disadvantaged people throughout the world and, where possible, encourages them to pass on their LifeNets benefit to others."[1]
LifeNets headquarters are located in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A.. The organization has affiliated chapters in Kenya, South Africa, Ukraine and Zambia. LifeNets “works on the basis of mutual respect and dignity with recipients and donors, delivers services through known and trusted local leaders, is culturally sensitive in the type and amount of aid delivered and leverages donations by partnering with organizations and individuals that provide products for free or at low cost.” [2]
LifeNets "is a network of individuals, churches, and nonprofit groups that provides self-sustaining development aid in countries throughout the world, from Jordan to Estonia to El Salvador. 'We focus on practical solutions that don't reinvent the wheel,' Kubik says. Examples include scholarships for students from developing nations, new homes for tsunami victims, and micro-credit for African farmers."[3]
History
[edit]LifeNets was founded in 1999 by Victor Kubik, a fulltime Christian minister with the United Church of God.[4]
