Organic Waste Management

Organic Waste Management

[edit]

Organic Waste Management is essential in this era and age. As Approximately around 38 billion metric tonnes of waste is produces all over the world. Possible factors being human behaviour, population explosion and consumption rate are the main reasons for increase in organic waste. As mostly waste material is either simply not recyclable or unusable. Therefore burning or deposition has always been the answer to that which causes problems in our environment.[1]

Environmental problems

[edit]

Burning always causes pollution and Burying the waste always has problems with the increase in the heavy metal content in the soil.[1] Soil, Water and Air Polliution can be a result of improper waste management. Improper Waste Management not only does create air, water and soil pollution but is also responsible for creating greenhouse gases and harmful to wildlife and marine ecosystems. If water is contaminated with harmful chemicals and toxic waste then it can lead to serious health conditions for humans. Cholera and Dysentery are some of the many diseases which are known to be spread through contaminated water.

Soil contamination is also a major problem as the plants absorb the contaminated chemicals and then living oranisms including humans consume the plant from that soil and then have serious health issues and even death. Improper waste management can also be a barrier to good food supply as plant growth is impaired therefore reducing the amount of food produced.[2]
