Who am I?

[edit]

My name is Lana Martin, and I live in Los Angeles, California, USA. I work as a project manager, writer, and editor for computational biology researchers. My passion pursuits include hiking the Transverse Ranges of Southern California, running 5ks at a mediocre pace, commuting and touring by bicycle, traveling, local housing and transportation activism, and photography.

In a past life, I was a researcher in archaeology. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology at The University of Texas at Austin while researching burial customs of hunter-gatherer societies, a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology at University of California, Los Angeles while researching paleoethnobotany of the prehistoric Channel Island (California) Chumash people, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Anthropology at University of California, Los Angeles while researching paleoethnobotany of early village society in present-day Panama. I have taught archaeology courses at UCLA and Santa Monica College.
