Infrequent comments on what I'm up to
ReappearanceSo it seemed that the absentee-ism removal of my admin bit has sparked a little resurgence. I've done a few DYKs with a personal project of getting every British Paralympian with five or more gold medals an article to celebrate their accomplishments. This is now done and I'm looking at other ways of spending my wiki-time. I'm not sure, but the last couple of weeks have been nice. 22:36, 4 March 2018 (UTC) ThanksWell it seems that I've retired. The Wikibreak has now extended beyond two years and I cannot see myself coming back any time soon. Not because my belief in this project has lapsed, but because I don't feel that I personally can add much more. Perhaps one day in the future... 23:27, 26 September 2015 (UTC) 2013 updateSo I did indeed go for another wikibreak, then returned in August which is now almost a tradition. I've created a range of articles but find myself slowing down once more. It's been fun, and if I can find more interesting articles to create I'm sure I'll continue for a little while longer. 19:46, 7 September 2013 (UTC) Project doneA 14-article lead hook about Formula One nationalities. That took a long time! I'm also going back into a lull, so I doubt there will be much activity from me for a while. We'll see though... 20:28, 25 November 2012 (UTC) Busy busyAfter a burst of activity with loads of DYKs I've slowed down significantly. Lots to do in the real world and a massive F1 project on here. 20:02, 8 October 2012 (UTC) WikibreakI've been gone for three and a half years. I've not really missed the disagreements but do like contributing to the content of this great resource. I might remember what I enjoyed about being here, or I might remember why I left. We'll see, but "Hello" to anyone who vaguely recalls interacting with me and well done for all the progress made and hard work you've all put in. 14:01, 3 August 2011 (UTC) MemoryI've been here a long time and my memory often deserts me when it comes to my interactions with others. With some exceptions I rarely remember what has happened between myself and other users, be them good or not so good. That's one reason why I have only voted on a single candidate in the arbcom elections. Of course it nicely fits in with WP:AGF too, because I have to assume that you're nice! 12:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC) Undo/RollbackWhat is the difference between an unqualified "Undo" and an admin "Rollback"? People used to go mad about the use of rollback on non-vandal edits (rightly so in most cases) but now the use of Undo has gone mad. Lots of editors are using the undo feature in ways that are not appropriate, and I reckon that it has encouraged edit wars. It's a great tool, but can we trust people with it? Hmm, I might mention this on the VP. 10:37, 28 October 2007 (UTC) OuchI don't normally comment about something "off-wiki" but this is a bit of a serious matter. I've gone and broken my neck and injured my face, falling off my bicycle. I'm hoping for a quick recovery, and I'm not sure how much I'll be on here - maybe more since I'm going to be stuck at home for a while. 17:56, 14 September 2007 (UTC) Short usernamesUsernames have become a bit of a thing with this whole "usurpation" facility. We now have several users with one letter usernames which, in my view, is rather silly. I'll avoid the whole "real name" debate, but I do think that we should have at least three letters or more for usernames. 17:55, 14 August 2007 (UTC) Three yearsI just noticed that it's been three years since my first registered edit - a little addition to Kimi Räikkönen on 31 July 2004. How time flies. 11:23, 7 August 2007 (UTC) BLP part 2So one arbitrator is now thinking that I'm unsuitable as an admin. Well I'm sorry but my faith in the ArbCom is falling apart by the post - wouldn't it be nice if they even tried to look into both sides of the story. Well it's really nice to know that 25,000+ edits, featured articles, policy developments, over three years of editing, and one of the highest number of contributions to DYK account for absolutely nothing. Great, thanks - some people really know how to show appreciation around here. 22:14, 21 June 2007 (UTC) BLPJust yesterday I stated that I was enjoying myself - well that's changed rather quickly! It's amazing how fanatical people are getting with WP:BLP, using it as a reason to delete valid articles and effectively censor things that are already massively widespread across the Internet (not just our mirrors) and that have existed here without a problem for years. Yet for some reason they get deleted. Then you get people asserting BLP on articles about a dead person - logic escapes some people, it would seem. 15:14, 30 May 2007 (UTC) 25,000Well I've just hit a rather significant number of edits - this is my 25,000th edit! I've had a bit of a push with two new articles (see left) and a campaign to reduce the prevalence of the Americanism "sophomore". I've not had such a burst in over eight months; does this mean I'm back? Nah not really, but I'm enjoying myself at the moment. 10:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC) New article! It's been a while. I've just written Bold Lane - Wikipedia's first article about a specific car park! It's a quite interesting read. Well the DYK fact of it is quite interesting, and it may work as a good example of security or computer control. Anyway I enjoyed writing it and do have another article I'm thinking of writing at the moment. Perhaps somebody will beat me to it but given the unusual subject matter (surprise, eh?) I doubt it! 08:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC) WikibreakYou know, I really haven't felt inspired to do anything here recently. Perhaps the wikigrip has loosened, but I've just not been wanting to contribute. I'm starting to feel that I have a few articles in me now, but I don't know if that will translate to me coming back and doing anything major here. We'll see. If you missed me - thanks. 18:54, 27 November 2006 (UTC) WP:ANI hear there've been arguments over at WP:AN. Several good people have been upset by what has been said and some have chosen to leave; they will be missed. I'm just glad that I chose long ago never to visit that place. 19:12, 18 September 2006 (UTC) |
