Jesus Garcia (born September 23, 1982), better known by his stage name Tex Garcia, is an American hip hop recording artist from East Austin, Texas. He is currently a independent artist under the independent label Poverty Island Ent. He released several mixtapes such as the acclaimed "Everything Is Better With COKE", "Hustler Triumph: This Is What It Sounds LIke" and "#Smoke One". In 2013 Tex released two independent street albums. "Billionaire Dreams" and "I Brought The COKE Back" for sale online. His debut studio EP (Untitled), is scheduled for release in early 2014.
Early Life
[edit]Tex Garcia was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He grew up in east Austin's "Mason Manor" and "Springdale Gardens" housing projects.[1] He also lived a small part of his life in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, with his grandmother. After getting in trouble in the 8th grade. After a year or so of living in the ghetto of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Tex returned home to Austin. There he quickly became engulfed by the fast paced city life.
Career

[edit]In 2011, Tex Garcia released "Everything Is Better With COKE", which is his first full body of music and first serious project. Then, on December 17, 2011 he released "Hustlers Triumph: This Is What It Sounds Like". These projects were released on the internet to download for free. This Year Tex also started making his own music videos with the video making company "On The Reel Films".
2012
[edit]On july 31, 2012 Tex released another free online mixtape entitled "#SmokeOne". This mixtape was made with mainly old recordings he had saved from a collaborative project that went sour. This mixtape was just a warm up for his next project "Billionaire Dreams".
2013-Present
[edit]In early 2013 Tex launched a central Texas promotional campaign for his first independent street album entitled "Billionaire Dreams". Billionaire Dreams was released on February 15, 2013. It was released for sale through multiple online markets. Tex also made and released a collection of music videos online. The work he put in for the "Billionaire Dreams" campaign got him awarded "best male artist" by "Austin Hip Hop Awards" in 2013. On august 17, 2013 Tex released his "I Brought The Coke Back" independent project with fellow Austinite "DJ Rapid Ric". This album was also released for sale online. Tex is now pushing a new promotional campaign for his next street album entitled "T.E.A.M." which is a acronym for "to encourage another member". The street album is set to be released sometime in December, 2013. However, Tex has announced that "T.E.A.M." is just a warm up for his first studio album which he said will be released sometime in 2014. The LP is yet to be titled.
Recognition
[edit]Critics have recognized Tex Garcia for his abilities to express his emotions musically and his creative story telling abilities. In 2013 he was awarded the "best male artist" by the "2013 Austin Hip-Hop Awards".
