User:Viktor Laszlo
Viktor Laszlo is a phonetician, a linguist, and a qualified speech and language therapist.
He is Italian, but graduated and qualified in Britain.
He is primarily a phonetician, with a long-standing experience in the practice of articulatory phonetics (and tonetics) in several languages, including English, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and, to a lesser extent, Spanish, German, Dutch, Thai and Vietnamese.
When editing his phonetic/phonemic transcriptions of real-world lexical items, please acknowledge that his experience is based on the everyday testing of theoretical assumptions, derived from the most reliable and up-to-date sources.
Please be considerate when extrapolating your own knowledge base from the works of even the most famous phoneticians, especially when you are simply quoting from written sources. Many so-called phoneticians rely heavily (or exclusively) on machine-made acoustic spectrography, and several famous "specialists" are in fact "sound deaf", and manifestly incapable of articulating the very speech sounds they purport to describe.
Viktor's insight in syntax and semantics is somewhat more limited, and he will refrain from contributing to these fields unless he is absolutely certain of what he states.
